Post Replacement Speakers

I'm considering replacing the factory so-called premium speakers in my SuperCrew. I have the head unit w/ casette and changer in the rear.

I'm not brave enough yet to cut into the door panels for components. Neither amps nor subs are in my future. I'll probably be buying from Crutchfield because I like getting their wiring harness and detailed instructions.

I'm considering the following.
Infinity Reference Series 5752cf
Polk EX Series II EX572a
Pioneer A Series TS-A6855

I guess I'll consider these as well.
Boston Acoustics FX8

Anyone have any experience with theses? Any comments?

The best advice I can give Ya' is to Listen Listen Listen. Go to a audio shop with a multi speaker display and check out the different speakers. I have the Bostons in my SCREW Being driven by a Pioneer P720 Premier head unit. This set-up sounds pretty good! With My 8" Bazooka RS series amplified Sub I had a pair of Boston 625's componets in my Tahoe, They were a little brighter and ballsier than the coax, they were also being driven by a seperate amp off the factory Delco unit. Also the Boston Componets are about $125.00 More than the 57,s You may want to read some of the posts and comments in the Audio Systems section of the message board. I would like to have another pair of the Boston Seperates and drive them with a good amp. Hope this Helps

I bought the most expensive Polk's that fit the stock openings from Crutchfield; think they were DB7's, DX7's, something like that. Wonderful improvement in the music. Best improvement for the $'s in my opinion. I know some folks go all out with subwoofers under the rear seats, in the console, etc., but I wanted the best sound I could get without restricting the functionality of the truck.

TMEL-

Are you driving those DX7s with the factory radio/cassette head unit? I am concerned about their sensativity.

OhioCrew- Just how hard is it to pull the door panels to replace the speakers? I am really having a hard time convincing myself that it might not become a major project.
It is nice to hear that the factory head has sufficient power.

Ok, I know this is probably a dumb question but... exactly what size are the front and rear door speakers for the SCrew? I can't seem to verify that on any of the postings here. Are the fronts 6"x8" and rears 5"x7"? I also tried the Crutchfield web site and there were no listings whatsoever for SCrews.... Thanks,
Rich

RFR164, the openings are 5x7.

Thursday I purchased Boston FS80 Components (front); FX8s (rear).

I plan on locating the tweets in the angle part (A pillar, I think?) just above the corners of the dash. I will take some pictures when installed. I hope to get them done this weekend.

I've been looking for the best Internet prices for the Polk DX-7s. Both of these sites show them for less than $110/pair. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with these sites? Ordering 2 pairs from Crutchfield will cost about $90 more but maybe it's worth it????

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=11149 for $109 with free shipping

http://www.usacaraudio.com/polk_audio.htm for $102.64
