Considering it is Winter, I haven't used the Moonroof more than a couple of times. It's still nice even just to open the shade though. Opens and closes very smoothly and not excessively loud wind noise when open. I'll see when summer comes if any problems devlop. I doubt it.

Cool

I know my ID left says TX but I now live near Chicago, and bought my SC in October. Love the moonroof, and added it my order the day before it went into production and I am soooo glad I did. It's smoothe. I noticed if I turn the fan on the first notch, it reduces the amount of wind noise..not that there's much to begin with....those with one give it a shot and see if they notice anything...maybe I'm just crazy

None at all. I wouldn't go a day with out it. I've had the truck since August and the roof shade has never been closed, and I usually try to keep the thing up in the vent position. Mine broke two weeks ago, it's an aftermarket system and the guys didn't get the glass perfectly centered, but other than that its great!

There had been some talk earlier about a loud "flutter" noise at a speed. I have heard it once since owning my Crew. We shall see when warmer temperatures come around.

I love it though. It really brightens up the cab with the shade open. I love it (oops, already said that.) A great addition to the trcuk.

I ordered my SCREW with a moonroof and the dealer said you lose the overhead console that comes standard with the Lariat. He said I will not have outside temp reading and compass as well since they are housed in the overhead console..... can anyone with a moonroof verify this? Thanks

Mine isn't the lariat, but it's an XLT with the electronics pkg. It has a smaller overhead console, which holds two map lights, a compass and outside thermometer.

Absolutely no leaks in the hard use my truck has had: purchased Sep. 1st and will turn over 15,000 miles tomorrow.

The fluttering noise mentioned above is easily remedied by "springing" (i.e. lightly bending) the wind deflector upward. Search the forum for "wind deflector" and you'll find a better explanation.

I really like mine, and even though the wife (BelayOn) has only been in the truck about four times, she has dropped major hints that her next vehicle WILL have one.

I have a Lariat with the moon roof and it does have both compass and temp. gage. I think the only thing you lose with the moon roof is another light.
9 months and no problems with my moon roof.

Gearhead,

Ford's factory installed moonroofs are made by Webasto. They've been around a long time and also supply to GM, Chrysler and asst japanese models.

This is my 3rd truck with one in it and I've had good luck to date.......I'm also one of those so-called nitwits that uses it in the coldest of winter days. I like the fresh cold air ventilation.

Hey gearhead!

Make sure you'll still have enough headroom once you get a moon roof. I sat in a Screw w/ the roof before I got mine and I kept hitting my head. It will cost you a fair amount of headroom... I'm 6-3 and it just wasn't going to work for me!!
