Post how fast do you guys drive?

i noticed the SCrew speedo goes up to 100mph. i can't imagine driving one that fast, esp. a 4x4 with its extra height... how fast do you guys push your screws?

I haven't really pushed it, but I can vouch that it'll do every bit of 100, and it still feels like there's more sittin behind it. it's a 2by though

hi 98xlt --

yeah i've been meaning to fix the sig, hadn't gotten around to it yet... trying to figure out what's going on...

I think there has been a price increase or something... both kbb.com and ford.com were giving me $31,315 as base MSRP before for a SCrew 4x4 Lariat. now ford is listing $32,210 as base MSRP. kbb.com hasn't changed. my dealer's printout lists $31,495 as base MSRP.

what's going on? everyone has different numbers all of a sudden, heh.

the component prices on my dealer's sheet all match up. the only thing i don't recognize is FDAF Asessment ($130). can someone tell me what this is? also, my price didn't include the $715 destination charge.

anyway, my dealer's sheet ends up with an invoice of $30,952.15 and MSRP of $35,025.

gotta run now, will post more when i get home tonight...

Wes

FDAF = Ford Dealer Advertising Fee
I'm paying $260 for it here in Chicagoland.

Screw prices have increased, not all the websites know about it yet.

Cool

I accidentaly pegged it at 100MPH and the tach went up about another 800 rpm. I was testing the rev limiter and it was defective.

Uh, how fast do you think I was going?

~~cuz I ain't telling in a public place like this. i will admit that my truck's been modified a little to make higher speeds more comfortable, and that I frequently am driving in areas where higher speeds are safe and prudent...

OK... the ford site and edmunds.com have been updated with the new prices...

so base on a 4x4 Lariat SCrew is $31,495 and invoice is $27,691...

the FDAF, gasoline, and destination gets added to the invoice side of the printout, but not the msrp side, so I get
$30,952.15 and $35,025 respectively for my config... I'm paying $500 over, which is just under the edmunds TMV and (from what i've heard) a decent deal for this area.

i just wish it would get here already! I got at least a month and a half to wait =(

anyone know what's behind the (pretty significant) price change?

Pesos, if you paid $31,452.15, you got a good deal. I bought my rig on 2/24/00 and paid $32,057.10 out the door. Everything on the truck was ordered at invoice price and I paid $500.00 over at the final deal.

What dealership did you go to? I bought mine from Varsity Ford in Palo Alto, and have been very satisfied with them.

Az.

Ps: The truck will do the speedometer speed, but mine will do more since adding the Superchip. How much more, I don't really care to find out.

hi az2528 --

i got a quote of $500 from the fleet rep at the dealer down in palo alto (i think it may have actually been varsity -- are they right near the volvo dealer?)

anyways, wherever that was I liked the fleet dealer but the floor manager really creeped me out.

ended up going with Frontier Ford in Santa Clara. the operations manager and fleet dealer both were really great to work with, and i feel good about how i'll be treated after the purchase there. the fleet dealer was happy to match the $500 over offer, so $30,952.15 + 500 gets $31,452.15

then there destination, fdaf, and ?!?!?! $20.50 for 10 gallons of gas? what's up with that!

Hi Pesos, I was lucky, I never dealt with a floor person just the fleet man, but I can't remember his name right now. And they are next to the Volvo dealer.

Remind Frontier Ford you just paid $32,000 plus for your rig and a full tank of gas should be included or you will take your business somewhere else. I had a full tank, and a coupon for the first 5000 mile check. The coupon included, oil change, rotation of tires and full inspection for $9.00.

Remember, they want your business, so make them do something for you too.

take care,
Az

I did 100 mph a couple of times, but that is not a big deal here in Europe. Anyway the Screw has a limited speed of 107 mph but at 100 mph I felt like it could go allot more is the restrictor would be taken off. But for me 80 mph is plenty and it rides very nice at that speed.

Not that any of us in blue EVER exceed the speed limit off duty (right az) but these things, even in 4x4 will move (high speed, low drag). We even have 4wd Exploders and (god forbid)
S-10 Blazers that we use for pursuit. Just have to be a lot more careful with the high center of gravity.

My 5.4 4wd only turns 2500rpm at 100mph, so the truck would run faster without the governor.

Screwcop is right, the boys in blue NEVER EVER go over the speed limit off duty!!! everyone stop laughing.

Hey Screw, does your PD use the Tahoe's. We have a few, and only one has been in a pursuit. The bad guy crashed after about a 5 minute pursuit, but my buddy who was driving the Tahoe said it does just as good as the Crownvic.

Stay safe
