Finally....$500 rebate on SCrew
Spoke to the sales manager where I ordered my truck from and he said there was a $500 rebate on the SCrews til April 2nd. It's not much but i'll take it. Rather have the 1.9% for 60 months like they have on the Explorer. So if your in the market for one, here's another reason to buy!

Nothen` Dirty` Going` On`Here`
In December I had a choice of $500 discount or 2.9% FMC finance.
I bought 12/01 from dealer stock and they backdated the paperwork to 11/30. Told me if I didn't sign today the discount and finance was gone (i.e. ended in November). As I suspected it was just more dealer sales BS to get me to buy before I left the lot. They offered the same deal the whole month of December.
Here's my dealer "slight of hand" story.
Dealer tried to pull a fast one by adding 5 Yr 75K mile Premium ESP to the deal without telling me. Sales guy gave me a total dollar amount for truck after discounts, trade, down payment, etc., AND a monthly payment figure that INCLUDED the ESP (didn't mention the ESP, however). I questioned the payment to the point the sales manager got involved and assured me the total cost for the truck was exactly what was written down. I figured O.K I'll check the finance paper before signing to be sure. When the sales guy was covering warranty I said "yeah I know it the Std 3/36". He said "no, we giving you a 5/75". Amazed (and not believing it)I said, "for free". His reply was, "it won't increase your payment one penny" (smooth eh). When I got to reviewing/signing the finance paperwork I discovered what they had tried to do and made a fuss. Finance guy said " we're just want to to be happy with your new truck" (yeah right). Then he said "this is not necessarily the best we can do for price on the ESP". So I said "hit me with your best shot". I didn't like the new price either ($650 less). Finance guy said "what if I told you we'll give you your money back after 5 years IF you don't use the plan or sell the truck"? Even agreed to put it in writing. Anyhow, after some more ****ering I eventually did buy ESP at a reduced rate AND with a piece of paper signed by dealer that says I get my money back IF I don't use the plan. Now I must be very careful on any warranty work to make sure it's not part of the ESP cuz I'm sure that the pitfall.
If I get a call from FMC I'll be sure to relate this story.
BTW - As I was leaving the dealership with the truck a guy came up to me and said "you just bought the truck I came back to buy, hope you enjoy it".
I DO LOVE this truck!!! I'll probably keep it 5 years unless they invent something I like better so may need the ESP. I've had many "awsome truck" comments as well as admiring looks.

I just bought a SUPERCREW 4X4 off the lot. 1-12-01
Ford, at least the one I went to, is coming way off the sticker on these trucks. I won't post my price here but I think I got a good deal. The sticker was just shy of 33K and I got about 20%. They said it was $500 over invoice. They didn't play the game of discounting my trade either. Go to edmonds.com for Sticker vs. Actual INVOICE calculator. Use it on every car or truck you buy. My price was actually under edmonds invoice calc for the exact truck.
Don't pay too much. Find a dealer that will give you a "take it or leave it" price. They're out there...
