Question CB Radio

Where to mount antenna with hard cover on bed? I tried between cab and bed but SWRs were way to high. Do not want on bumper, thought about getting a CB cellphone antenna(looks like cellphone ant, but taller). It sticks on the rear window. Just need to talk to friends in trucks CLOSE by, do not need maxium range.

Cool

I have mine on a fender mount bracket, driver's side of the hood. This bracket screws to the lip of the fender, putting the CB antenna opposite of the regular radio antenna. Bought at Mom and pop CB shop, Radio Smack etc. doesn't carry this type. Nice thing is that I can use a Firestick antenna, and only needed abou 7" of coax. Gets out about 4 miles on a non-tweaked cb, much better performance than the cellular lookalikes.

Question

On my other truck, I used a magnitic mount. When I was around town, put on the hood, but when on the highway I would put it on the roof of the cab. It worked great, if I was away from the truck for a while, I would sometimes put it in the truck, just so it would be there when I got back. Just a thought.

Question

Waldo:
Huh?
How does an antenna put out anything? It is not powered. Also, did you remove the bed to install your cb amplifier? 300 watts? What, you arc weld with the mic cord, or what?
I'm not saying it isn't possible, I just am wondering how it happened.
