Chuck, Do you plan on drag racing it? Or tow with it? Reason I ask is one of the top sources told me that a you will lose torque very easy with the wrong exhaust system. Even told me that for towing conditions you'd only notice the improvement by making it over that hill just a little easier. I've thought about doing it too, just don't know if I'll get the results I would want. I do have a Superchip and AirForce one airfilter system. But I figure SCrews need better gears more than anything.

Jerry.

Jerry,

I don't plan on towing anything on a regular basis although I wouldn't eliminate the possibility. I can't see going to the track and lumbering down to 1/4 next to (for a short time anyway) the 13 & under second street cars on test & tune nights.

I want to alter the exhaust note a little and add whatever power (HP & Torque) possible with simple bolt-ons. I do mud some and any power is good. I also don't mind being able to shoulder out the odd Z71, Ram, or even Expedition at the light on occasion

I haven't yet had any issues with the 3.55 gears even with the 17" rims & the large all terrains. I have toyed with the idea of get a couple inches more height on the tires and moving down on rim size or 2 to get more sidewall but I would bet that gears would be a necessity then.

Question 2001 Screw Exhaust Specs

Anyone have the sizes of the pipes and the configurations for the 2001 Gen 1 SuperCrew 4X4 with the 5.4L engine?
I am trying to figure out where the largest flow restriction is. I figure the muffler probably has a lower than desired flow number and I think the pipe into it is 2.5 or 2.75" but I am not sure. Thinking of a Flowmaster muffler with 3" SI/SO but not sure.

Any one with widths, lenghts, and/or flows? Also, anyone know of any experimentation on the pipe sizes with respect to what effect it might have on scavenging? I am not interested in lowering the TQ any.

I'm new to the Ford truck game so I have no experience.

Thanks,

Chuck
