Question

Just submitted the NHSTA report.

Question: Has anyone talked to their Ford dealership yet for seat replacement? They will probably ask us to take a hike.

I made a comment on the survey they sent me.
Ford called me back in regard to the survey and asked further questions in regard to the headrest. She assured me this complaint was logged and forwarded to the apropriate department. So if we Canucks can't use NHTSA
maybe if they keep hearing it from all directions the pressure may be on.

I just submitted my complaint. I ordered my truck before they were even on the lot. I got one of the first ones in Houston from my dealer. I absolutly love the truck and haven't had one complaint about the truck until know. I wouldn't have even known about if it had not been for this web site! I will definately keep an eye on this site for future updates and/or concerns.

Submitted my complaint today! I noticed the lack of rear headrests when I took delivery in early March of my Gen. I Screw. I looked around at all the regular and extended cab trucks from multiple manufacturers w/out protection from the rear window and then queried a friend who works in insurance claims. He wasn't able to find a regulation which required them. I'm afraid this will be our biggest obstacle as a recall would affect many more vehicles than just our Screws. You can't get what you don't ask for though eh?

Anything new on this topic?!? I went to the NHTSA website, and noted a plethora of head rest complaints while looking for anything on the wiper recall. Has anyone had any contact from NHTSA within the last few months, because I agree that the dealer network could care less.

I logged my complaint with NHTSA, but I don't think anything will get done. In the mean time and until I decide what I will do permanently I wedged back pillow between the seat and the window so it sticks up above the seat and protects my little guy some. The back pillow is somewhat wedge shaped so the tapered end easily wedges between the seat and the back window. The other end of the pillow is about 3.5 inches thick and sticks about 12 inches above the back of the seat. The foam is fairly dense so I think it would help some in a rear ender.

Just an idea.

Hey folks,

I don't have a screw yet because I haven't ordered it yet. I agree, for the most part, that you should have head rests on your rear seats. I have a '00 4x4 Super Cab Lariat and it has a rear bench without head rest either.

I don't think Ford will do anything on this issue because I'm sure they built the trucks according to whatever standards were in place at the time of manufacture.

Since they changed the design to include front and rear head rest, they are probably going above and beyond the requirements set forth by current regulations for rear seat passengers in trucks.

If they do decide to change the seats on earlier screws because of the lack or rear head restraints, then imagine what will happen to the Super Cab gang when they get wind of that.

What about the folks with trucks prior to air bags, should they also insist that Ford go back and put air bags in their trucks.

What about trucks built before the advent of seat belts, should they also go back and put them in those vehicles too.

I think I made my point so I stop.

Don't get me wrong, if I had a screw without the head rests I'm sure I would be pissed too but just how far can we take the issue of retrofitting any improvemnts made to future designs into current and past ones?

My $2.00 worth.

I added my complaint as well... Will I get new headrests? I doubt it, but what the heck, it only took 2 minutes and maybe we'll all get an extra rebate to purchase a newer Screw...hehe
