Question Owner Dynamics Survey

I am really curious about who buys a SuperCrew. Things like owners age, family or not. What do you use the truck for eg: toy or work or towing.

I will start.
I am in my 40's married with 3 teenagers. I use my truck for work. I am in customer service. I don't need a truck for work but do need to provide a decent late model vehicle so I might as well drive the toy of my choice. My wife likes it because she knows I am driving something safe out on the road every day. We also pull a 31' trailer and may use the truck to pull it south for winter break. We usually do about 4000km per year of towing. The Supercab was a little tight for 3 teenagers.

Orval:

I'm in my very early 40's with 3 girls, a Grandpa 3 times, (yeah I started early) and one still living at home. This thing hauls my grandkids, my mother-in-law (thankfully she's finally in the back seat now that I have a Screw and not an extended cab!!) my pop-up camper, everone elses furniture, and all the firewood I can get. I love this truck!! I don't use it for work, the company provides that!
The first time I ever saw one was in April, I was at a Ford store, buying a car for my mother-in-law. A Screw was right there in the showroom. During negotiations, you know, when the salesman says " I need to talk to the boss...", the wife and I both got up to check out the new rig. My wife's first reaction was to climb in the back seat after I sat in the drivers seat. (she's 5'11, I'm 6'3) When she said "There is sooo much room back here, I love this truck, we NEED this truck..." CHA-CHING!!! You see, wife's love trucks too!!! The rest as they say ... is history!!

Thumbs up

I am in my late 30s, married, father of two, college educated, homeowner, blah blah blah.

I am a former SUV driver who needed a truck for light hauling for work. I am a partner in a company that designs wastewater remediation systems and distributes industrial chemicals and lubricants in a three state area. We sometimes have to do emergency deliveries and since we did not have a truck, it made sense for us to get one. I did not need a huge bed, but one big enough for drums of grease, etc.

I also needed it to have enough room to haul four adults to meetings, as well as occassionally take four 13 year old kids to carpool. 4x4 was necessary due to some snow and that old "I gotta have it now" mentality of some of our industrial customers.

I had to have something that rode well, as I am on the road a lot in a three state area.

For my money (or my company's!) the SCrew was the only choice.

I enjoy all the postings I read on here.

I'm 25 with a girlfriend and one kid. I had a Ranger that just couldn't handle the towing and hauling that I need to do. It's not a lot, but I like having room. I also need a 4x4 to get through the snow and up my drive way in the winter.

Cool

I am 31, married with 2 small kids, and Own my own Dental practice.

I had a 98 Scab which was nice but tight for 2 car seats. I use the Screw for hunting, hauling snowmobiles and building materials for the new house. It is by far the perfect all purpose vehicle. Just wish it had more luxury items!!

I'm 3 dozen yrs old, married, no kids, one crazy miniature pincher.Needed to haul stuff for the projects at home. Looked for a F250 SCSD but could'nt find one in 2wd I liked.
Then the Screw came out and the wife had to have it. The dog crate would'nt fit in the S-cab. The inside of my Explorer was'nt big enough to haul much. So I got the wife the SCrew.

hey guys, i'm 49 years old, i have 3 children, and live in sunny south fla. my hobbies are deep sea fishing and paying for my daughters college education, next one is due in college next fall, my super crew makes many trips from south fla. to the university of florida in gainesville about 300 miles filled with everything needed to supply a dorm and a 19 yr old girl. it is used also at work mostly on road but every year it gets a work out off road and in watery conditions during storm season, i work for a large electrical utility and i go everywhere to supervise my line crews. the life style is generally upper middle class, and humble.. having fun.. go gators..!

I'm 35, have a BS in Visual Communication, married 6 years, and have a 1 month old daughter.
My '93 Ranger is great, but can't carry a carseat in the rear jumpseats. My wife didn't want to rack up miles on the '98 Grand Prix GTP for hauling the family around, so we got the SCrew for double duty family hauler and truck. We both love the usefulness of this truck. She likes driving it too.

37 year old career, union firefighter and car wash owner. Married with a 4 y.o. boy. I bought the Screw simply because I thought it looked pretty cool. I'm pretty spoiled and pretty much get whatever I want ( thanks to my patented wife training camp ) I like the back seat for the boy, he enjoys sitting up higher so he can see out. Wife drives a Mercury Sable, so he has a harder time seeing out of it. I also have a 92 F150 X-cab 4x4 as my work truck so the screw doesnt have to do much more than sit there and look pretty and turn heads at the stoplights.

I am a 32 year old criminal investigator, married (5 years), one daughter (6 months) and one Hungarian Vizsla (3.5 years). We decided that my wife's Subaru Forrester was too small for our frequent trips to up-state NY, and started looking at the big SUV's (Suburban). After lots of visits to Edmunds.com, we decided that one of the new crew cab trucks with a cap would be the same size as a Suburban, but a fair amount cheaper. We test drove the SC on the same day as the 'Burb, and thought the truck was far more practical (especially for the 5K less in price and the Ford Citibank credit card rebates I still had).

Ocasionally have buyer's remorse (especially when I see a really nice 'Burb go by), but loose it when I know how much less my payments are.

On the plus side, my daughter's spitup wipes off much easier from the Ford's leather than I am sure it would from the Chevy's cloth...

I'm in my late 30's, banker. Needed the truck for yard work and most importantly to haul myself and two german shepards (80 and 100 pounds). Had an explorer, but couldn't haul much in it when the dogs were inside.

42 years old, married , 2 kids 14 and 10 years old, occupation Engineer.
Not used for work other than house and yard. I like the idea of having something always ready to haul when you need it. I also like heavy duty stuff and an F150 is heavy duty, I plan on keeping this for a minimum of 10 years. Thats also one of the reasons why I opted for the trailer towing package you get even more heavy duty stuff.
I also always like to have at least one 4X4 vehicle. We live in an area of hilly country roads where the snow can be a problem. Between the 4X4 and limited slip we should be more than ready.
Replaced 2 vehicles with the Supercrew, An 84 Nissan P.U. King Cab 4X4 and a 91 Ford Explorer 4X4. The Nissan had no frame left otherwise a very reliable vehicle over the years just not very safe anymore. The Explorer was due for some major work, cracked heads or bad head gasket, A/C repair and conversion to R134 and front hubs. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Fix the Explorer and keep it or get another SUV and a trailer for utility work. The Nissan was to far gone to do anything with. My wife and daughter came home one day after going by a Ford Dealership and said they had the solution. I was skeptical at first but after seeing and driving the Supercrew I was sold.
The rear seat has more space than the Explorer and although the bed was 1/2 foot shorter than the Nissan it is much wider and deeper.
I did not get the bed extender but did purchase a different type of extender that plugs into the class III receiver and extends out about 3' then turns 90 degrees up and is topped off with a 4' T that has tie downs. The height is adjustable in 1" increments and it can support 350 lbs. It cost $40, I found it in the Harbor Freight tool catalog. It seems like it will work nicely with long loads, such as lumber.
As far as gas milage the Explorer averaged 17 -19 MPG with the V6 engine and the Nissan 19-21 MPG with a 4 cylinder engine. On
first two tanks so far with the Supercrew I saw 14.9 and 16.2 MPG. Not a bad trade off considering the V8, the size and the extra comfort and convience plus its brand new it may even get better with time.
The only downside so far is my wife wants to drive it all the time too. So in the spirit of comprimise we take turns.
