What has been added to your Screw that made it faster off the line?
My Screw does not have a good 0-40 mph punch to it. It seems like most other trucks pass me when I accelerate from a stop at the bottom of a hill. It flys from 40mph and up.
Truckin' magazine just published its test results of about 8 different trucks, some of them 3/4 tons, and the Screw was slower than just about everything at almost 12 seconds! A lot of the other trucks were around 9 seconds.
I would like to know what anyone has added to their Screw that actually worked. I do not want to use Premium fuel.
TIA

Femseadoo, a big part of the problem is the 3:55 gears in the diffs. Ford put them in there to squeeze all the gas mileage they could out of our little beasts. Your truck like mine is the heaviest package. It's also tall and not aerodynamic so its never going to be a drag racer. You could change the the gears to something lower to give you some off the line "oompff" but your mileage will suffer and it might be pricey since you would have to do front and rear. Personally I went with a Superchip, it made a big difference but like you said you dont want to use premium gas. There are other options but from what I've gathered its a lot of money for marginal improvement but I keep looking and hoping.

Why dont you want to use premium fuel? Cost?
Im assuming you were refering to using a chip when you say you dont want to use premium fuel. From what I have gathered, the people with the chip have gained 1-2 mpg with the chip. SO, lets say you go an extra 30 miles on that tank of fuel, which would be about 2 gallons of fuel. At say $1.50 a gallon for premium fuel that would be $3.00.
Now assuming the premium fuel is about .15 a gallon more expensive than regular, a 26 gallon tank of premium fuel will cost you $3.90 more than a tank of regular. whew, im rambling.. So, basically a tank of premium is only going to cost about a buck more plus you get the added performance of a chip. Did I make any sense?
Oops, now since I typed all that I noticed youre running propane.... Oh well, thats how I justified the chip to myself anyway.

My screw will run between 6.8 and 7.1 sec 0 to 60. It will smoke both tires off the line. It is fast and fun. Have yet to be beat by a truck. But then again i have spent 3500 dollars. Check out my signature

Wanted to let you know 1/4 mile times also, it has run in the high 14's to low 15's, with trap speeds in the low 90's. I have a G-Tech Pro that is used for the timing it does 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile Et's and trap speed.
Superchip and a K&N filter will do wonders for your truck. I can smoke 'em off the line. Have no problem using 93 octane. I use it in all vehicles and toys, including the lawnmower!! Now, if you are using the propane route, might be part of your problem. Including the extra weight added by the conversion.
