Post XLT or Lariat??

I'm looking at ordering one of these great trucks and I want the 17 inch tire/rims to come on it. The Lariat is $600 (invoice) more compared to the XLT with off road group. So far I think that's the only way I can get the 17 inch tires on the XLT. I dont really care if I get leather seats or the power driver's seat and other lil goodies that come on the Lariat. Has anyone found a way around this.

Also, the limited slip axle, I am getting 4WD just wondering if I need this.

For the difference in price, you can't go wrong with the Lariat. For a few extra bucks, you get the 17's you want, the color matched wheel flares, the color matched bumper top and painted mirror covers with the additional signal. I was in the same boat as you, I however wanted the 16's that come with the XLT, but in order to get the color matched wheel flares, I had to go with the Lariat. I personally am very happy with my decision, and if the rims bother me too bad I can always add aftermarkets. Also, the limited slip would probably payoff in the long run!

If you are getting the 4WD to really use it, rather than be seen in it, get the LS. Otherwise, one front wheel spinning and one rear wheel spinning will leave you stuck. With LS, you have to get three wheels spinning before you get stuck.

If it what I think it is, it stands for Special Vehicle Team. It's Ford's special racing team. The Lightning, Cobra R, Taurus SHO and so on are SVT projects. Hopefully this is what you are asking about, if not, I'll just feel a little stupid!

Wink

GET THE L-S DIFF!!!! It just snowed 8" here and the truck did great in 2WD. Wife thought it was in 4WD. Truck is VERY stable in 4WD and takes off like a champ on the ice. Ask yourself this...How much is NOT having you and your loved ones stuck worth to you?
