Question

OK,

So I decide to let the dealer (the experts) install my liner last saturday mainly for time constraint reasons (Honey, you need to put up all 2000 Christmas lights this weekend. Honey, can you watch the kids while I go Christmas shopping on saturday. Honey, ...).

Anyhoo, it takes two guys jumping and pounding on my truck like a couple of gorillas, the better part of an hour to finally get the job done. I'm watching them from inside the service waiting area and they seem to be doing a lot of head shaking, cursing etc..

So, they pull the truck up and the installation looks OK at first. I drive the truck home and later on get a chance to really go over the install and I think they may have botched the job which is causing a fit problem.

Here's my question for all you Ford/Duraliner installees.

Is the entire side (both of course) of the liner suppose to fit up under the 'real' bed rail along the entire length of the bed. Mine has been installed so that the middle 3rd portion of the liner is actually tucked up under the plastic bed-rail cap instead of the actual bed rail. I don't have the installation instructions since I had the 'pros' do it.

It doesn't seem right and I think it is causing a slight bow in the floor and plastic bed-rail cap.

Why do I get the feeling I'm going to end up doing this myself in order to get it right ??

Desert Dog,

Sounds like they did it the right way...except maybe for some of the jumping...lol. The middle portion of the liner sides does actually tuck between the bed rail cap and the bed rail.

If you look closely, there will be a half circle type cut which is where it transforms from between the rail and rail cap, to go under the rail at the front and rear end of the liner sides.

In order to get the sides to tuck in properly they probably pulled up pretty hard on the center of the liner floor. Sometimes it takes a few days for it to lay completely flat again.

Mine has a slight bow in the bed rail caps also. I think that will also disappear with time. Anyway, I have my fingers crossed that it will...lol. I've been thinking about putting a little weight on them for a few days to see if they'll lay back down where they were before. It's cold up here, and it may just need a few hot days in the sun.

That's my view, but I'm eager to hear anyone else's experience with this too!

Thumbs up

Harvest Gold Lariat, 5.4L V8, leather captain's chairs (tan), moonie, slider, 6cd, keyless entry, 17" wheels, sidesteps, Westin grill, Explorer driving lights, DashMat, DuraLiner, Bed Xtender, SuperChip and K&N Filter.

I purchased all of my mods aftermarket and insatlled all of em' myself. All you'll need for the DuraLiner is a rubber mallet and a cordless drill. The mallet is to get the liner under the bedrail (yes, it does fit all the way under) and the drill is to remove/reinstall the tie-downs. It won't take a hour to do the whole thing by yourself.
