Angry Cancelled My Screw

For details of my saga see topic "Call or Fold".

I cancelled my order today after only waiting 3+ months for the status to change from "clean and unscheduled". Well the status never changed !!

My contact with the regional Ford distribution rep. was even less eventful than my many dealer run-ins.

Ford informed me that my wait time was not above average. I stated in return the many posts on this website contridicting his statement. He stated you can't believe everything you read.

So I guess this board must be full of hot air. (NOT)!!!

THIS REALLY PUTS A SOUR TASTE IN MY MOUTH - ENOUGH I THINK, TO MAKE ME BYPASS FORD WITH THIS 31k PURCHASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry fellow members but, I do believe I will visit some non-Ford dealerships this weekend. -Sorry

How about a new dealer. I just called my saleman and he said he would be glad to sell you a SuperCrew. I don't know where you are from Richmond, VA, but Richmond Ford is a real dealer bent on customer service.

My salesman's name is Bill Harmon. He said call anytime. He's there until 9pm tonight. The number is 804-358-5521. Or email him at mail@richmondford.com. Check out their website at http://www.richmondford.com.

It took me exactly 5 weeks from order to delivery. Very happy with the SuperCrew and the dealer.

...and no, I don't work for Richmond Ford; just trying to help. My salesman will give me a $25 gift certificate to Fridays if I "birddog" for him though and the deal comes through. But that's not why I'm doing this.

You can only drive a Ford, there is no other choice.

as i stated in my earlier post to you (call or fold) there are just to many ford dealers around for you to have to wait for an ordered machineand be beat up by the smucks in dealership land. enjoy the experiance, and the super crew, and go to a ford dealer as if you had never had the poor experiance... believe it or not the people who build your quality ford product have nothing in the world to do with "dealership land" where anything is possible... go look for a super crew and you will never look back.. the alternative is the front end shaking tahoe or the 1980s style silverado, and the tin can with the great engine tundra,,,, find a crew and stay with the ford truck.

VMF,
Have you tried having a dealer search for the truck you want either on another lot or already in route from the factory. They can usually find one thats a pretty close match if not exact. Thats how I found mine 3 weeks ago and the solid arizona beige was pretty elusive. It was on its way from the factory to another dealer. The dealership I was working with setup a dealer trade and I had it within a week. You might give that a try. I even got it for under invoice.

VMF214,

I have been reading your saga and I must say it has helped me with several issues involving my order. I agree with the rest that you should pursue things with another dealer.

After 6 weeks of Clean & Unscheduled, I called my Dealer on Monday and when I talked to my salesman on Tuesday my order had been bumped to a Priority 2 after the GM at the dealership made some calls. He told me I should be serialized and get a build date within a week which appears to be accurate based on other posts I have read.

I have also called around to other dealers, searched the web, etc. and a very similar truck to mine exists but with the priority boost, I'm willing to wait for exactly what I want. Please don't blame Ford for not helping you. It is your Dealer that should be using their muscle to persuade Ford to help out. You shouldn't have to do this alone. Find a better dealership!

If you're looking for a close dealer with lots of SCrews, drive an hour south and check Apple Ford in Columbia, MD. A check of their website shows that they have 17 SCrews on the lot. I don't know anythig else about them, only that they are close to you and have lots in stock.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

p.s. Please don't get a Chevy

Unhappy

Don't mean to sound down on Ford - but the Ford distribution dude I talked with could have cared less !!! - Maybe it is just a Maryland thing.

As for other dealers - all the local ones (within 30 miles) want about $750 to $1000 over invoice and selection has been slim.

As for Apple Ford - I have been there several times (my Win2K classes are next door) - the most Screws I have seen on their lot was one week ago (3)- two green XLT's w/4.6 and third party add-ons, and one toreador red Lariat/ 5.4 loaded. - Maybe they got a big shipment in this past week.

Tired of calling, e-mailing, faxing and driving to either dealerships, buyers services or FORD. Tired, tired, tired...

VMF 214,
Rest if you need to, but don't go to another brand. I personally spent a lot of time checking them out and it's not the way to go. I could have spent less on a chevy but it is just not as well made as the 150. I feel strongly about that. I am tired myself and am still waiting for my Screw but I will get it one way or the other for a reasonable price. You don't have to pay too much, they are out there. Call some ofthe dealerships these guys say will make you a deal, use your sources. Be patient and go after your truck, don't settle.

Keep us posted

VMF214,
Hang in there friend. I ordered my Screw on 7/23/2000 and FINALLY got Scheduled for a build-date two weeks ago. VOPC is now reporting that my Screw has been shipped via rail with an ETA of 11/18/2000. So I ordered the darn thing in the same month as the Fourth of July Holiday and, with any luck, I'll take delivery in the mohth that celebrates Thanksgiving, SHEESH.

Screws ARE taking that long to be built and delivered in some parts of the country and I don't think there is much the dealers can do about it. I mean think about it. This is the hottest selling vehicle Ford has in its car or truck line and the Dealers are begging for them. My dealer is just squirming because these things are dribbling one or two at a time and don't stay on the lot for more than a day or two.

Anyway, you are going to be driving your next rig for a long time, don't let frustration with delivery taint your decision. This vehicle is soo right for so many reasons, settling for something else is not an option.

Orderd my Y2K Sport on 25 June 99, was not built until October 17 1999. (Part of the delay was availablity of fabric for the seats.) Dealer had to get the priority bumped up by the Regional Manager. Check with some other dealers it can be worth the wait, some of the Super Duty foplks were waiting as muich as 6 months last fall and they are all glad they did. Good Luck

I just called my salesman to inquire as to
any information on my SCrew, ordered 09-27-00
He said it was coming off the truck as we spoke. He said it's a miracle to have in in hand in less then 2 months.

Didn't go to the enemy and did not buy a Screw.

I purchased a 2000 F-150 Supercab XLT 4X4 5.4/3.55LS/ORP/Elec4X4 bright red w/silver two tone. It was a demo with 1000 miles on it.

A little extra - the dealership is in with the Baltimore Orioles and my truck was Wil Clark's ride before he was traded to the Cardinals.

Paid $26,000.00 on the road - done deal - pick it up Thursday!!!

Still have yet to receive my deposit back on my Screw order.

Thanks again for all the help !!!

Another one saved from the dark side. Who wears bowties anymore? You wouldn't have looked good in one.
