VMF214,
Everybody seems to have had their different experiences, but my story goes like this: I originally placed an order on 8/17 with my "hometown" dealer for a 4X2 XLT Highland Green/AZ Beige; waited patiently 8 weeks with no VIN # assigned, clean and unscheduled and no belief it would arrive in the near future. Was out of town 10/9 to 10/13(about 3 hrs. away) on training, found a Deep Wedgewood blue XLT with only a couple more options on it than I was looking for at a similar price; purchased it 10/13, drove it home and I love it! Stopped in at the dealer here to cancel my original order but they said they were just going to put the truck on the lot for sale when it got here. I still wanted to see it when it comes in so I've been calling VOPC every 4-5 days. About a week later 10/21 VOPC says "build date week of 11/13". Should I have waited? I don't know, that would have made it 13 weeks since the date it was ordered + shipping time. If I had any clue about the pending build date I probably would have waited, but I don't have any regrets over purchasing the truck I have now; they're great vehicles!
Good Luck with whatever you decide.

I really think that the bigger the dealer the faster your going to get your SuperCrew. Ordered mine 8/21, got a build date of 9/18, and then got a delivery date of 10/11. My SuperCrew actully came in on 10/7. I would pull out and check with other dealerships. I bought mine up north, in Maine and this dealership is one big dealer, these trucks are coming in and going out like flies. The bigger the dealer the faster your going to get your SuperCrew, unless you fine what you want in a lot..

VMF-214,

Looks like you got some good opinions here, but I would think hard before I let this thing drive me into spending more money than what you have agreed to. Seems to me that you need to lean on the dealer with steady phone calls and chats with their management. Also go directly up the food chain to whoever will listen at Ford. They've agreed to a price and now they need to come through!
This whole allocation thing is interesting and I wish I knew more about it, but consider that it is a F-150 which is the best selling vehicle out there and is produ ced in staggering quantities. Also it debuted in quantity in June and I see them at dealers in what seems to be good supply. Just some more thoughts.

Good Luck!

VMF214,

Fold it up and get one off the lot!!, You want white, so there will be plenty to choose from. I went to order one, and I found out they had one almost identical to what I wanted coming in. So instead of paying 100-200 over invoice, I paid $400. But I bought it back in June and have been driving it ever since. There was probably only a handfull of Screws on the road in June so I thought I did pretty well. By the way, I swaped my tu-tone paint for a power seat, it wasn't that important to me. What can you live without??
P.S. Don't swap out your choice of engine or hauling features though, you would regret that!!

Happy Hunting!

The buying service can get my deposit back -no problem (they say).
So I am going to let the order continue to stand, while I search for something on a lot and try to work a deal. If all else fails maybe the order will come through soon.

or maybe not.

Thanks for all the good advice and support !!!

A few things to add to your fire.

1. As far as I know, the Ecursion is built only at Kentucky Truck with the super duties.

2. I belive also that the Expedition and Navigator are built at the Michigan Truck plant, not along side the F-150. The F-150's come out of Kansas City and Oakville Canada.

3. One reason for the Screw delays may be the popularity and the problems plagueing the R4100 transmission from a month or so ago, which would have pretty much halted production of the Screw since there are no manuals.

I wish you all luck in getting your trucks, even if the dealers IQ is in the negative range!!!!

CDash,

In reference to entry #3 of your message about holdups in production:

All production vehicles at the Kansas City Truck plant utilize the 4R70W transmission which was NOT affected by the diode mishap.

Info comes from the following site. http://www.blueovalnews.com/trans_truckfails.htm

So now we can blame something else on slow production os our babies. Plus we don't have to worry about the diode problem coming up in our trucks.........
