Directed Electronics (maker of Viper alarms and the new owner of Clifford Electronics) has a plug in module which fits into their remote starts to go around the PATS system in Fords. This is a small box which energizes when it gets a signal from the remote start unit to allow a positive charge in the ignition wire. It is fairly easily modified to use with other brands as well. Should cost you about $30 US, available at upper end car stereo/alarm shops.
Old school way is to program in a third key and hide it in the steering column. This works, but permananently (or as long as the key remains there) disables the function of the PATS system. If you aren't worried about vehicle theft, it's another possibility. Personally, I figure the trucks easy enough to steal without making it easier, so why bypass it?;-)

I had the Viper Alarm and remote start installed and it works very well. Plus you still have the Ford key security.

Question Remote Start

Has anyone come up with a work around to the alarm key "chip"? I want to install an aftermarkey remote starter (auto start).

Any help?!?

Thanks
