Kid in a Candystore (Supercrew Mods)
I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas-time. I started reading about mods on this forum and I've already ordered a Superchip and an Airforce One induction kit. I've logged onto priceline.com and successfully bidded on 50 (up to 55) gallons of premium gasoline at a price less than regular unleaded in my area. I had a local shop install a Flowmaster 40 Series dual chamber muffler and duals with chrome tips.
All this, and I have less than 600 miles on my pickup. I will try to wait until after my 1000 mile checkup with the dealer before I install the Superchip and Airforce One.
I bought a 1997 F150 2WD new and drove it for 3-1/2 years, and never did any mods to it. I only had it in the shop one time for recall stuff. My Dad popped off one day and told me he wanted my '97 F150 if I ever wanted a new pickup. He traded in his '95 GMC on my Supercrew and we did an "in and out" on my '97 F150. It now belongs to him and I believe he is a converted F150 follower.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for the informative posts. You've got me hooked. I log onto this site now before I log onto my gun sites. I'm even thinking about selling a few guns to help pay for my mods.

Hey Freak,
How is the AF1 working out for you? I'd like some input from a few of you guys before I get one. They look great from what I've seen, but I haven't heard any reviews yet.
Let me know.

With the price of gas, why do you buy premium? The Supercrew should run on regular unleaded gas with out any problems.

Sonoma Super Crew,
I think premium is require by the Superchip Super(crew)Freak has installed. There is no real money lost or saved in the switch to superchip+premium gas IF the superchip gives you 2 MPG more.
It has been said that the superchip afords about 2 MPG more with it installed than without. Gas cost ~20 cents more for premium (which you need with the superchip) over regular and without superchip. Cost per mile is just about equal in terms of actual cost per mile driven.
Math I used:
Without superchip:
((gal*price)/(miles)) = cost per mile
IE: (22.217*1.69)/350= 0.10727637142857142857142857142857 CPM
IE: MPG =(miles/gal) (350/22.217)= 15.753702119998199576900571634334
Theoretically with super ship I would get +2 MPG... with gas at 20 cents more I gain ~44.45 extra miles traveled on same amount of gas.
((gal*price)/(miles)) = cost per mile
IE: (22.217*1.89)/394.45 = 0.10645235137533274179236912156167 CPM
IE: MPG =(miles/gal) 394.45/22.217= 17.754422289237970923166944231894

WebHouse Club, the name-your-price grocery and gasoline backed by Priceline.com Inc., will go out of business in 90 days, the company said Thursday.
Their website says not to use the blue gas card. I got 40 gallons for 1.77. The lowest around here is 1.87 for regular gas.
If you havn't used your 50 gallons by now they will reimburse your money. Supposedly, sure glad I use mine before they closed down.

Premium is required with the Superchip. And I did get the notice that Priceline will no longer be doing gas. My last bid was not as successful. I got premium for $1.54 when the pump price was $1.69. First bid was for $1.41 and pump price was the same $1.69. Good thing is that Priceline will refund the pump price instead of the price bid, so I will still come out ahead.
I like the Airforce One. I have not had any experience with K&N's kit or with velocity tube, so I can't say if it is superior to those kits or not. The A-One's filter is a better filter (not K&N) that is open on the end. Supposedly, the A-One filter will suck at least some cold air thru the fender opening. Filter seems to be very high quality, and is K&N type. Installation was a snap. Only gripe is that the whole unit is a bit wobbly with only one bracket. I think the filter is resting against the hood when the hood is closed, so this probably limits the movement when driving (but restricts airflow thru top of filter). I really like the look of it.
I think the truck's computer is getting acquainted with the mods, because I actually heard the tires chirp in 2nd gear when I got on it the other day. Pretty good for a heavy 4x4 with new M&S tires.
I don't have any mileage figures yet. Had knee surgery, so I didn't get to drive for four days. Will probably fill up this weekend and get some figures.

Funny you were able to convert Dad that fast.
My father sold Chevrolets from 1926 to retirement in 1976, 50 Years. He was the oldest Chevy salesman in the world at retirement. (didn't get squat)
Anyhow as soon as dad retired, I started buying Oldsmobiles. Now that I've had 2 new fords, and another new on order, I wonder if Dad is spinning in his grave. I think NOT.
I can't go with a company who supports Frt Wheel Drive vehicles
like GM does. Not to mention keeping the same look for near on 10 years at a time
