Question Supercrew roll-over

HI, After test driving the 4Runner , Xterra Pathfinder and the SuperCrew, I'm trying to
make a decison between the pathfinder and the
Supercrew.

The tendencey to roll over in the SUVs is a big factor which affetcs my decision. If somebody can tell me the possiblity of rollover of screw compared to other SUVs , I'll really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Roll-over is a product of a high center of gravity, skinny tires, and a narrow stance. Lift kits, soft suspensions, and bad driving habits also add to problem.

Full size [stock] vehicles (F-150, etc) are LEAST likely to roll-over due to their wider stance. Of the three other trucks youve listed, the Xterra, being narrow w/ skinny tires, would be MOST likely to roll-over.

I would rank the wider (both vehicle and tires) 4Runner over the Pathfinder in roll-over resistance.

If you're worried about roll-over, I'm sure the F-series truck is the safest of those you listed. Since you're worried about safety, I'd also check on how the others compare to the F-series in crash tests. The late model F-series has one of the best ratings of SUVs in crash tests. At least it was the last time I checked.

I have a 4x4 and I've taken some turns so fast that the tires squeeled and it never felt like it was going to lean too far and roll.

If you're getting a 4x2, it will be even more resistant to roll-overs since the center of gravity is even lower because of the lower over-all height when compared to the 4x4.

I can say that having owned a Ford Explorer before buying my Supercrew. I feel much safer than I did in the explorer. I could feel the whole vehicle start to lean when I took some corners. I take the same corners in the Supercrew and hardly a lean at all.
I like the stability in the morning, More coffee stays in the cup.

Question

cpm6t....even a Sherman Tank rolls over.. It depends on what situation you put a vehicle in. The f-150 has no history of rollovers. And if your comparing a Super Crew to a 4-Runner or Exterra/Pathfinder you are comparing a Apples AN Oranges on a number of different catagoies. If you havn't noticed the Super Crew is much bigger and beefier. A refined all around truck based on a platfrom which has attained sales that are #1 for all types of cars or trucks,an established track record. The roll over thing is not a factor.

I bought my supercrew as a "Pickup Truck". I didnt know they were considered SUV's. It has some property's of an SUV. I think any vehicle has a tendency to roll over given the right scenario, including pickup trucks. The supercrew handles differently than any pickup truck I have driven. The dealer stated that the handling in this truck is much improved in the Supercrew.
Now the goodyear tires are something else to be desired. If you are concerned about safety, I would change out the Goodyear ATS's if you can. San Diego has had two spells of rain so far this year(Amazingly). With just a small amount of water the tires will spin like mad. I dont think these tires work for the Supercrew. I am waiting to get a lift before switching ties. Until then- rain or shine, I will drive carefully around water.
