eswartz,
I just recently purchased my Screw and am very happy with the vast amount a paasenger room. I have a two year old that is still in a car seat that fits easily in the middle of the rear seat. I think loading and unloading the car seat is far easier in the Screw than my wife's 4-door Honda Accord. Also, the Screw seems to be safer considering the size and height of the vehicle. It also seems that where ever I go I am always taking people and the rear seat provides more than enough room for even your biggest passengers. (You can still seat 2 large adults comfortably with the child seat in the middle.)

Since the dealer I purchased my vehicle from sold the Screw I was originally going to buy, they gave me the Screw I have now that included the rear AV unit (for free!). I've never really had any use for a tv/vcr in a truck but found out that this option was a Godsent. After taking a 4 1/2 hr trip into the mountains here in Colorado, my wife and I realized the benefits of the tv/vcr. Usually after an hour or so my daughter will cry because of the long car ride. On this trip we popped in some kid movies and she was quiet the entire trip. Being a soon-to-be new parent you will realize how impressive and relaxing this is not to have a two year old screaming almost the whole trip.

All in all this a great vehicle. I do a lot of hiking and camping and there isn't too many places, if any, this truck can't take me to. Everything I take camping fits nicely in the bed and the power cruising on mountain trails (4X4 only and about 11,000') is exceptional(especially in 4LO). Check out the truck, I am sure you will be as impressed as every other owner on this forum!

Joe

Caution! Buying or shopping for a Supercrew may cause twins.
I had not planned on posting any replies on this board, but when I saw the messages from Christoso35 and Robonuf, I had to laugh. I was shopping for a supercab this spring when the supercrew came out. Then I started looking at the supercrew -- Then I found out our second child was going to be twins. They were born in June, so now we have three boys (3yrs and 2.5months). The dealer let us use a supercrew for a couple of days. The three car seats easily fit in the back, and all five of us were comfortable. I now have a 5.4, 4x4, highland green scheduled to be built the week of 9/25.

GinosF150,

Several different paint problems including;
trash in paint, fisheyes, air-bubble, oil or other substance under paint, scratches where body side molding was put on, and dent in roof that was painted after the fact. The worst problem is the drive side composite bed panel apparently was repaired at the factory and you can see the scratches in the plastic under the paint. Additionally, there is what I would consider excessive orange peel on my vehicle.

I've looked at literaly hundreds of SCrews on dealers lots and find some of these things on most but not to the extent as on mine.

I have not really detailed this indepth here on the board as I am currently working with a Ford Customer Care service rep and do not want to trash Ford without giving them a chance. I'll let you know good or bad when resolved.

BTW, in my inspections of the SCrews I found the light colors had the better paint jobs. Apparently the dark colors have more defects slip by.

Hey OKCrew,
Thanks for the response, sounds like you got a bummer, I would be asking for a new truck, don't accept anything less.

Overall I would say that I would not buy a Supercrew again. so far (less that 7,000 miles I have had the following problems:

* Transmission seal broke
* Noise in rear end
* 2 power Steering pumps
* Terrible dealer service

The truck is very functional and a pleasure to drive when it is running but so far (I hate to say this being a long time Ford owner) this has been a Fix Or Repair Daily

Good luck - If I hadn't had all the problems I would recommend the truck

Well, as with all new models, the first year is always the one with the most bugs to fix, just look at the 97 supercab, you could have door cracks, piston slap, roof cracks, and I think there were several factory recalls as well, WHEH!

All things aside, I still like my supercab, packing people into the back is usually tight, but if you don't mind that, it's just as good as the supercrew. I think of them as coupe and 4dr models

Unhappy

Lindvquist,

Soory to heasr of all your problems. Hopefully Ford will address all your problems to your satisfaction. However, from all I have read on the S-Crew and owning one myself, I would have to say your experiences are the exception rather than the rule. Every manufacturer is capable of producing an occassional "problem child" out of the thousands of trucks they produce.

Good Luck

Mtnmike,
Sorry but I have to completely agree with LINDQVIST, my new Supercrew was in the shop for 21 of the first 60 days I owned it. They replaced the brakes, bearings, and finally they ended up replacing the entire rear axle assembly. Furthermore, while waiting for the rear axle assembly to arrive the transmission went out at 1200 miles. They ended up replacing the hydrolic valve body. I have several minor complaints I expect from any new vehicle but having two major components of the drive train defective is unacceptable.
Furthermore, the service has been a disaster. The general manager who is a neighbor and lives three doors down the street from me will not talk to me. I kept my last Ford truck for 15 years but I don't think the way this one is built that it will last much past the 3 year warranty.
