Question Build delays???

Does anyone know when I should anticipate receiving my truck, ordered 7-11-00, priority 10??

Is there any truth to the 2or3month delay in delivery??

Hadn't heard of any delays. I have been researching a new vehicle for about 3 months and settled on the SCrew. Mine was ordered on July 25th with a 10 priority also. From what I understand the biggest deal in getting the thing built is whether or not your dealer has an allocation available to build one.

Question

Just curious, did the dealer give you any reason for the long delay? You might want to ask your salesman if the dealership has used up their allocation and are waiting for more.

I'm calling my salesman tommorrow and ask about any possible delays. I'll post if I get any useful information......

Well, I ordered my truck on April 28th!!!! I just visited with the dealer on 7/26 and he still has it as "clean and unscheduled". I asked if there was a problem? He brought up the order right there online of Ford's computer system. I ordered it via the A-plan (employee and family) with a priority 10. He initially told me 4-6 weeks. Well it's now 13 weeks. To make matters worse, I compared the order from 4/28 to the 7/26 printout, and the Keyless remote entry option is missing. As I write this now, I'm waiting to find out what's going to come of this. Needless to say, I'm getting pissed. I finally thought I'd have a good dealer experience with buying via a no haggle A-plan pricing. It seemed so simple when I ordered. He put in the model and options and out came my price. The lowest I could ever hope for. Approx. 3% below invoice. I guess I'm paying for it in another way. Oh well....

Sorry to ramble on. I have heard there is some build delays but not sure how long. Anybody out there having this much of a delay????

On order: F150 supercrew, Oxford White/Harvest Gold trim (now Arizona Beige), 4x4, 5.4L, sliding rear window, Tlr Tow group, Cargo cage, cab steps, 17" 10 spoke wheels, Keyless remote ?????

Good News, I spoke with the dealer yesterday and he found out that the Keyless Remote Entry Option is now standard on the XLT. That explains why it no longer shows up on my order. When I ordered on 4/28 it was a separate option. He still can't help with a build date yet.
I'm waiting patiently.

Ordered my SuperCrew at the dealer on 7-3. I just checked VOPC and the build date is the week of 9-4. This was the usual priority 10 order. I did have to pay five hundred over invoice here in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge Louisiana area. Too high of a demand at the moment. Four dealers let me walk out the door, one over less than $60 dollars. I finally requested bids and got this one at five hundred over dealer cost. Not great from what I'm reading but obviously not bad for the area.

Had travel plans for early September to shake down the truck, looks like they ain't gonna happen.

Kinda new to the boards, bit ordered mine on July 14th and as of 8/1 still "Clean and Unscheduled" and hos not been "Serialized". Called the dealer and asked if they had an "allocation" to build one. Will hear back this afternoon. I was originally told 7-9 weeks for delivery but they have already wasted almost three weeks doing Nada.

I do recommend using the VOPC (1-800-962-3746) using the automated status check option. If you know the VIN...go that route. Otherwise youe will need to know 5 digit dealer number (don't need the letter), model year, body style (the letter W is decoded with the number 91...i.e. W08 = 9108), and the order number.

Impatiently waiting for my order to be scheduled....UGH!

g-money,

One tip, don't bother calling the VOPC number but once a week. Truck builds are scheduled on Thursdays and will show on Friday. The service is meant to be for dealers only and I suspect if customer traffic gets too heavy the number will get changed or another code added to lock us out.

I noticed there is an Internet site too, wonder if anybody has that URL?

One small comfort, it took awhile for mine to be scheduled too which was making me uneasy but my build date is only about five weeks from my schedule date.

Hu,

You may be mistaken...The VOPC updates their info every couple of days or so...THey may only schedule on Thursday, but once scheduled....there will be multiple updates.

Ordered mine 6/13/00. Just got an update from VOPC. As of August 7, 2000 (that's what the VOPC said, today is August 3.), my SCrew is scheduled to be built the week of August 7. And an estimated delivery date of September 4. Almost a month. I live in the northwest corner of Connecticut. Almost a month to get to Connecticut?

Exclamation

I have some additional information from my dealer with regards to why there might be build delays on recently ordered SCrews.

1. Each dealer is given an allotment of build allocations based purely on the volume of a soecific vehicle that a dealer moves thru their doors . My particular dealer is given one allocation per week for the next three weeks. I assume that this is so a particualr area of the country does not get left in the lurch and only the high volume dealers can order trucks.
2. My dealer indicated that the manufacturing plants are basically not scheduling any builds until next week (and haven't been for the last few weeks) as they "retool" the factory for the second build campaign of 2001 as well as the large amount of vacation taken by workers during the month of July.
3. A vehicle might be passed over for scheduling based on what my dealer called "commodity problems". If there are not enough parts (commodities) to build your vehicle, you will get passed over...even with a Priority 10 build number.

I hope this sheds at least a ray of light on anyone who is waiting for their SCrew to be built.

I will say that the above info has not made any less anxious.

G-Money,

Thanks for the info on updates. I still think it is probably a good idea not to call the number too often. I suspect that if the vehicle is showing as unscheduled that a call more often than every Friday may be a waste of time but that is only based on what my local fleet manager told me. He said that builds were scheduled on Thursdays based on dealer allotments and would appear Friday. He is one of the largest F-series sales managers in the South so I suspect his info is accurate although I can't verify it.

There must be some funky allocation thing here. I called my local dealer, talked to the ecommerce person (fleet sales essentially) and had the truck a day later. Is it the area (southern california) or just luck?
