Post Driveshaft RUST!?!?!?!?

Should this be happening to my '01 Supercrew. I noticed last night taking pics of my truck! Yeah Yeah- it looks dirty but i do drive it you know- but not as bad as the driveshaft would make it appear. And also the beams-which should have some type of black coating on them- correct?

By the way- That is also a close up of the MANIK side rail mounted to the truck. (shameless plug)

I noticed that on the Super Crews still on the lot. I was going to ask, but forgot. It does not look like it would help sales.

Not sure about the rust on driveshaft, Mine is close to the same, but not quite as bad. As for the frame, it should have the hot-dipped wax coating on it....NOT bare.

Question

I'm looking to get the bottom treaded with some kind of protection. Does anybody have suggestions on what to do. (rust protection)

Cool

After reading your message and looking at your pictures I looked under my SC and what do you think I found? A nicely painted driveshaft in a flat silver color. Has anyone else found silver or rust?

I have the same on mine as well. But I used some Hi-Temp flat black engine paint. It's works well and it's still fine after 5 months.

Checked mine today, no rust. Drive shaft appears to have an aluminized coating. They sure do have a lot of paint marking though.
