Unhappy Roof Leak

I don't have a leak yet (we have not had any rain since I got my truck) but the potential is there.

The weatherstripping on the rear window above the third light is pinched down inside the window bezel leaving a big crack. The crack is right at the opening for wire harness to the third light. The harness goes into the roof above the headliner.

I could see a big mess happening if the liner got wet. I have showed it to the local dealer and am getting it fixed. The window will have to be removed and then bolted back in.

I looked on a couple of dealer lots and found the defect on a good number of vehicles with both fixed and sliding windows.

You might want to check yours...

after reading your post i checked my rear window, it has a weather stripping concern on the bottom on the drivers side (slider also) of the truck. i will monitor it for leaks .. looks like they had a rookie installing windows on the assembley line .. its not real bad,,, but worth keeping an eye on it... thanks..

OKCrew,

Could you post a picture of your weather stripping problem?

It would help me visualize what you are seeing exactly.

Thanks

maz,

Here is a photo of the problem area (sorry for the poor quality, it was a borrowed digital camera).

On my SCrew, the weather stripping got pinched inside the window bezel above the third light leaving a crack right to the wire harness opening.

Here is a link to my Photopoint album which also shows some photos of orange peel.

OKCrew, my rear window has the same problem with the stripping. Did your dealer feel if it is any big deal? Is this problem with all F150's???

I had the same rear window problem as shown in OKcrew's picture and my dealer fixed it with my first oil change. He charged Ford 1/2 hour for labor so I expect that it is not a big deal to fix. Could be a lot of trouble if it is left alone. I didn't notice this defect until I was standing in the bed trying to wax the top of the cab. Amazing all the other minor little thing one notices when waxing!
