"Adjustment Fee" is dealer BS'N
Got an invoive today from my dealer and it was invoiced exactly how i wanted until we got to the end and saw he stuck a 360 adjustment fee...when asked about it he looked at the ground and said that it goes straight to manufactuer and the dealer see none of it and cannot be waived under any circumstances...Is this BS? He went on to say that maybe if your a fleet buyer it can be waived but that was it...He was and is willing to let me walk over this issue...Hard to believe but i'll let him think about it for a few days and well see....Destination fee i know i can't get rid of but i thought everything else got get axed, anyways if anyone knows let me know...P.S. the guy who told me about Covert, did they charge you something like this also? Thanks

4x4,
There could be a myriad of reasons why this has happened...the first (and most probable) is that it is BS.
The second reason is that the manufacturer raises and lowers prices periodically and the dealer only knows this when they run the prices on their computers. Their books are issued monthly and the computer is updated daily.
If you spec'ed the vehicle with the book and then spec'ed it on the computer, you might come up with slightly higher prices but not in the form of an adjustment fee....but instead you would see each particular option item listing an invoice and MSRP price.
Check with another dealer and have them spec the vehicle.
Just my thoughts.

Here is what is happening,i get the invoice price total, all options included, then they have a different section that has destination fee 690 and then under adjustments 369 and then the new invoivce price...seems like the adjustment is just an adjustment for more profit...E-mailed another dealer and he said he didn't know what it was and he'd do the deal for 200 over and no adjustment fee. (yes its covert in Bastrop) so i guess i'll have to drive to austin again to get it

The adjustment fee is the same as an advertising fee. In Dallas, it was $130 and is included in bottom line invoice total. When I negotiated a offer % based on invoice total including destination charge, dealer said my % was on invoice and that was included in invoice, as well as, $16 for gas from factory (Why wasn't that in destination?). Again dealer was unwilling to budge. I figured I would get the $150 back from them and then some. With all the warranty work and loaners, I feel vindicated. Ford once tacked the advertising fee on after the fact, but too many buyers were skating so they schemed a way to pass it on to the buyer. I always felt that this should be within base price.
