Post Bedliner and Tonneau cover

I have a duraliner bedliner in the truck and i'm waiting for my Backordered Tonneau cover (soft). The bedliner doesn't seem to have any drain holes in it, and with a good rain holds water until the truck moves or if it is parked uphil the water will not accumulate.

Do the soft tonneau covers stop all rain water from entering the bed?????

Cool

it should, all the ones ive ever had kept the bed pretty dry. You may get a little drip here or there, but nothing thats gonna fill your bed up with water.

Thanks One50! I came out the other day and there was about 5 inches of water in the bed and I was a little worried about storing anything even with the cover.

Question

I have a Duraliner bedliner and was looking into purchasing the Access Roll-Up cover. Does anyone know if the clamps will fit around the bed liner and the bed rail cap? I would prefer not to have to cut the liner if possible.

bluehen,

I don't have a bedliner (have a Ford bed mat) but here is a picture of how the brackets for the Access Roll-Up cover mount to the side rails:

It mounts the same way in all 4 corners (2 brackets per corner). Hope this helps.

How much space does the Access Roll-Up cover take when it is retracted to the forward end of the bed. Could you measure how much it extends into the bed from the inside edge of the front of the bed. I have a mountain bike mounting rack which fits several inches from the forward end of the bed and I wanted to assure myself that the bikes would clear the rolled up cover.

Thanks in advance.

Question

Dakota-

Which Extang cover do you have? Their snapless Tuff Tonno III looks pretty nice. Covercraft also makes a nice snapless cover, but not for the Screw.

Gator, I do have the snapless cover. If you go with an extang make sure that it comes with three bows. I got mine with two I thought something was missing so I called extang and they said they are now putting three bows in the cover and sent me one out overnight, makes a big difference

I have an Access Rolltop with a Duraliner and the rails will reform around the bedliner. I was thinking I would have to cut the liner but haven't yet. Getting the rails on the first time took a couple of hands but after a few days the rails 'gave' and it was easier to do a finer adjustment. Cover still isn't completely weather tight and I need to look at the front corners, haven't had the chance yet. It was a bit of a rush install and well...it's on my list of things to do.

Thanks for your response jm and Dr. Fun,

Is the Access Roll-up worth the extra $? The snapless Extang looks pretty much the same with the exception of the bows and the adjusting bar.

docker,
There is 2-7/8" from the inside front of the bed to the back of the front cross rail where the Access cover attaches to. This rail slides for tension adjustment so this can vary by another + or - 1/2" depending on the extent of the tension adjustment. If you push the rolled cover all the way against the rear window it rolls up small enough to sit on top of this rail. There are 2 quick release straps that hold the cover rolled up.

bluehen,
I have never owned another type of cover so I could not say how the Access cover compares to other soft covers. Its real pluses are its ability to adjust its tension as well as how easy it is to open (the bars roll up with cover). Most people think its a hard cover because it is so flat and tight. I also like the hidden slide lock (which you can see in my previous post - black plastic piece at the end of the strap) that prevents the cover from being opened without first opening the tailgate and releasing it. I like it a lot and would buy it again.

I've got the Extang (Black Max) also...came with 2 bows...where/how does the third attach? Another bracket?

One of my bows was cut 1/4" too long, sounds like an insignificant amount, but made huge difference in the way the cover fit (or didn't fit). Extang gave me specs and sure nuff, was too long. they sent out a new bow pronto. Now it looks like I need to call them again!

Thanks!

I have the Access Limited Edition. I had the Extang Black max on 97 SuperCab F150. The extang bows were a pain whenever I had to open the bed. Also even when I had the extang as tight as I could get it; it still waved like a flag when at highway speed. In cold weather it was real hard to snap it open or closed. I'm not real happy with the fit and finish of the Access. I think they could of done a better job on the rails. You mount them over the indentation of the rear posts, which puts the rear up in the air about 3/4". But I do like how easy it is to open and close and I like how tight it is. Over all I'd say the Access cover is worth the extra money.

Eville, the third bow comes with it's own bracket thay mounts to the center of each rail, extang even supplies the allen wrench to attach it. I have had 3- 4 kinds of covers on other trucks and I have seen everyone wave in the wind. Only a hard cover will not. I also looked at access roll top.and the pace edwards and after talking to owners found out that the tracks freeze up in the winter.I didn't want to spend that type of money and Have problems.
