Camper
I don't remember this topic being discussed.
Has anyone checked into a camper for the SC? Particularly a popup. I know i've seen them on other trucks that are flush with the tailgate and that extend out onto the tailgate with it down. Pictures would be great if you know of any websites.
I'm really torn at this point between the SC and a shortbed superduty for this reason.
Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone has any prior experience with popups, I am curious as to the approximate weight of one and if you liked it.
Thanks.

I know Four Wheel campers http://www.fourwheelcampers.com/ is planning on making one for the super crew. But I also know most makers of small 4-door pickups don't recommend putting slide-in campers in them. Something about not being able to get the center of gravity of the rig to end up in front of the rear wheels because of the long cab/short box, which results in instability while driving. I guess a pop-up camper is somewhere between a real slide-in camper and a shell cap so maybe they would work as long as they are not too heavy.
The hazards of using a slide-in camper has got me thinking that maybe that is why Ford has tapered the box to be narrower in back than in front, to discourage the use of slide-in campers. Does anyone know if this is the reason for the taper, or if there is any problem with using a light pop-up camper with the super crew?
Even if you do find a pop-up that will work, the taper is going to cause a narrower floor width because of the need to slide the camper in and out. It seems Ford would really rather not have people put a camper back there.

PS: Since everyone likes pictures, I thought I would send a long a snap-shot of Four Wheel campers' version for the Nissan crew cab, which is sort of a prototype for the Ford supercrew model. Just gives you an idea for how a popup would look on a small 4-door truck. Not bad, but obviously a pretty small dog-house space to live in!
