Question Glue on Backside of G-Door Velcro

What's with the glue on the backside of the velcro provided to hold garage door opener. It seems that I re-stick to compartment ceiling almost daily. The stuff just can't hold the weight of the standard Genie garage door opener. The summer heat also loosens the glue. Talked to another SCrew owner and he stated that he opens compartment door and opener hits the floorboard. I guess I'm quicker, cause I usually catch it before that happens. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?

Other planned mods: hard tonneau cover, K&N filter, Husky floor liners, Longhorn hitch cover, etc., etc., etc.

Crew Coach,

I had the same problem. The glue was coming loose, I have a black truck and the heat was real bad. I made a crude bracket to hold the Genie Opener in place and it has worked fine. It will not need much to help hold it but try to build a small brace across the opening.

I have a silver truck and the opener comes loose. I thought you were suppost to be able to push the outside of the door and activate the garage door opener. But I could never get it lined up.

After I resolved the issue of securing the remote opener, I then placed the leggo type pieces so that when I barely push up on it the switch engages.

Good Luck.

White truck, heat still makes opener fall 2-3x/week. Frustrating. Relining up those damn legos each time gets old.

That whole damn consol up there is kinda useless. I don't know why they don't put a full computer with mileage/fuel data. And the console whole overhead consol could be much lareger and store useful stuff like maps, radar detectors (with appropriate cutouts)...I'd love to see steel horse automotive make a bolt in unit that goes all the way across, yet doesn't lower the visors (I'm 6'4")

Anyone see anything like that specifically for the SCrew and its console?

I have an Excursion that had the same problem with the velcro not sticking. I went to the hardware store and bought some velcro squares, and it worked. The adhesive has way more stick than the stuff ford provides.

Yeah, my garage door opener fell off two or three times, also. I just kept sticking it back up and, so far, it's stayed through the hottest weather we've had.

Went and bought package of 2" wide hook & loop velcro at hardware store (Vecro brand). Cut a slightly larger piece of the hook than supplied with SC. Glue on backside is much thicker than supplied by Ford. Took care of the original problem. Cost was slightly over $2 with velcro to spare.

Is there a specific brand or model of opener that fits perfectly in that huge space for the opener?
I need a 3 button opener and i have a very small key chain type clicker i bought at home depot, but i cant figure a way to secure the opener and fill in the space between the trap door and the opener.
Any one have inovative ways of rigging their own opener, or should i get a specific brand and model opener to fit perfectly in the compartment??
