Supercab or Supercrew?
Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts about my upcoming truck purchase. I've decided to go with my gut on this one and stick with the F-150. I admit the Tundra was enticing but it just didn't feel right. Now a new dilema presents itself. Do I opt for the Supercab or step up to the beautiful yet pricey Supercrew? They're both gorgeous trucks so I can't choose based on looks alone. My two year old daughter requires the space of at least the S-Cab. My wife likes the option of full rear doors and the available moon roof with the S-Crew. I am also willing to give up a little bed space for these comfy extras. The only problem is in price. A 4X4 S-Crew crests my self imposed $30K limit. Are the SCrews living up to their ancestors reputations? My pocket book is almost where it needs to be for my trip to the Ford dealer. In just a few more weeks I should be out washing my new F-150 Super???
I had to make the exact same decisions as you, Tundra vs. F150 Supercab, last week. After I drove both I decided to get the Ford, but when I went back for a second look at the SC I saw the SuperCrews. I drove one and liked it very much, and could not look at the SuperCab again - I was ruined! I have an 8 yr-old and a 5 yr-old, and the 'Crew just made more sense, plus I really took a shine to it. I only use the bed during hunting season or hauling small loads occaisonally, so the 'Crew made more sense for me all the way 'round.
I bought the 'Crew off the lot last Tuesday, and I have been really happy with it. Even my bro-in-law, a Toyota fan, had to agree it is very nice. I took three big guys plus myself to lunch in it, and there was plenty of room. The kids love riding in it, and they are far back enough so they aren't hollering in my ear or kicking my seat, you know?
I'm sure you could get one for near $30k. Mine was $32.8 off-the-lot-7%tax-and-all, but it is a loaded Lariat 4X4. Good luck with your decision.

i did the station wagon in 88 when the kids were 5 and 6
i did the suv in 95 when the kids where
12 and 13
i did the superCREW in 2000 now that the kids are 16 and 17
only you know what your requirements are for space
the four door superCREW blows the doors off every other pickup out there this year in the space department-and believe me , i looked at them all
the power sunroof is well worth it
the bed is more than i need and you can still get the 4X8 piece of plywood home
Get the invoice prices and dont go more than 3% over that and if you are careful on your options you should get an XLT 4X4 for less than 31k (including T&T)
i believe the superCREW is the next step for all the suv owners looking for more utility than sport and the insurance rates on the f150s are much better than the suv
(the insurance folks will catch on one of these days)

i wish you luck whichever way you go

GO WITH THE SUPERCREW!!
The dealers ARE negotiating. Save yourself the hassle and negotiate over the internet. I got mine for $400 over invoice right off the lot. Whole deal was done by computer and phone. It is the way to go if you have kids... I have two. You just can not beat the room and access. You will be glad you did.

My uncle has the super cab. He's the one who helped with my decision. He said the extra doors on the scab are great when you're parked in the open, or up against the curb. Parked in a tight stall, it's hard to utilize the extra doors. When adding groceries it's not easy loading, when the extra door opens the opposite way. My wife and I go out with friends a lot, and it's so easy getting everyone in and out.
1dj27 is right, go out on the internet and do some shopping. You can still get some deals on these trucks. Good luck
