Post VIN number and insurance

I just got off the phone with my insurance agent and he said that he needed the last four digits of VIN number to determine the exact cost for insurance. He said the four choices were:

W086
W08L
W08W

My truck has not been serialized yet (according to the VOPC)...so those of you that already have trucks (or VIN numbers), what are the last four digits of your VIN number?

Although they are not the last 4 digits, mind is W08L.
Each digit in a VIN number has a meaning for each vehicle, ie: eng. size, transmission, etc. You would have to find someone with the exact same truck (eng. etc) as you to use there VIN number.

Whoohoo! I called the dealer on Saturday and found out my serial number!

I was wondering if anyone has a decoder or knows what each of the digits/letters in the VIN number stand for?

As noted in my earlier post I recognized the W08 as the SuperCrew option code in positions 5-7 and I believe position 8 is for the engine size:

W086 = 4.6
W08L = 5.4

My VIN number contains "W08L".

Anybody know about the other digits/letters in the SuperCrew VIN number?

Best way to get a answer is for me to take a stab at it, then everyone will jump all over my mistakes.

VIN has 17 positions:

1) Orgin 1 = USA 2 = Canada
2) Manufacturer F = Ford
3) Type of Vehicle T = Truck
4) Something to do with the GVWR?
5) Model F=RegCab X=SuperCab W=SuperCrew
6) Bodytype 1=Styleside 0=Flareside
7) Bodytype 7=4x2 8=4x4
8) Engine L=5.4 R=4.6Windsor 6=4.6Romeo
9) Check digit(?)
10) Year W=1998 X=1999 Y=2000 Z=2001
11) Assembly Plant N=Norfolk etc...
12-17) Assembly Serial Number (makes YOUR VIN unique)

I found it interesting that all SuperCrews have been identified as (Flareside) '0'.

Thanks Raoul! Not bad...my VIN number lines up pretty good, except for:

10) Year (mine is 1 for 2001?)
11) Assembly Plant (mine is K for Kansas?)

'K' for Kansas sounds logical.

My 1999 is X in the year position so I was just following the natural progression.
So, '1' = 2001 (I'll make a note of it.)

So... like everybody with a new toy... I gotta check this out. Curious though, my "8th digit" is a "W". I know I have a 4.6 - but that doesn't match any of the aforementioned choices. You sure it isn't R - Romeo and W - Windsor??

My wife says we must be a boring lot...

not sure, however, one or some of those numbers will tell the insurance folks what type of security features it has. whe i reinsured/insured my wifes toyota and my supercrew, the lady asked about security features for the toyota. later, i called back realizing they never asked about the crew. they told my they knew of the secure ignition via the vin.

Engine codes are L = 5.4 , W = 4.6 Romeo , 6 = 4.6 Windsor.

LOL

SDWill, I know you're right but, after I put 6=Romeo and R=Windsor and someone asks if W should really equal Windsor and you respond that W is Romeo, I'm sure a few eyebrows were raised.

What really surprises me is that so many of the SuperCrews are getting the 360 hp SuperCharged 5.4 Liter (L=Lightning)

Question

By the way, my dealer says that I can't be issued a VIN UNTIL my build date (June 5). Originally, he told me that I would be issued a VIN as soon as I HAD a build date. How soon did you guys get your VIN issued??

My build date is 6/5 and has been that way since 5/12 according to the VOPC. I called my dealer last Saturday (5/20) and they told me what my VIN number was.
