Anyone found room for a sub yet?
I will be upgrading the stock system and am looking for sub ideas, space appears very limited. I'm thinking about an 8" Bazooka under the back seat since it is easily removed when folding the seat down. It measures 18x8x9". Can any current owners tell me if it will fit, or offer better ideas. Mine will be here in three weeks. Thanks
Check out MTX, I had one in my expy and I plan to put one in my SC. The one designed for the f150 Extended cab should fit under the back seat perfect and still allow you to fold down the seat. You can either get it with an amp or put the amp in another location. Then I would replace the 4 speakers in the doors and with that, the stock head unit should sound awesome.

I have been wondering about this as well as 4 6x8 speakers just won't cut it after the system I have in my current car. I checked out the rear seat area when I test drove a supercrew and a supercab last weekend and it looks like the room under the seat is larger in the supercab, I don't think a supercab sub box will work. Hopefully MTX, QForms, JL Audio, et al will make a box that replaces the storage compartments behind the seat... I know MTX makes a great box that holds 2 10" drivers that fits behind the seat of a regular cab F-150...maybe this would work with some modification.
Went to one 'Al & Eds' Autosound in san diego yesterday. It was not the same ol 'Mobilworks' that it used to be. It seemed like al and ed's KIDS were running the joint instead of the experienced crews that did work on my el camino a few years ago. Anyways...
The door speakers can be replaced quite easily -probably with 5x7's. He assuredme that the door panels were easy to take off and would not break any fasteners. As far as a subwoofer goes....\
'Kid' brought out a 'MicroSub'. 8" JL sub, and it is about 18' long, six or so inches tall and is half-circle shaped. It would not fit under the passenger side rear seat, but would fit under the drivers side rear seat. Problem is the half circle shape makes it easier for the sub to slide out due to the slope of the seat. The first full and complete stop would nix that idea without some type of block to hold it in place.
Not to mention the fact that you will not be able to fold down the rear seat without taking it out. This Microsub was not heavy at all, and the local thugs would agree with and thank you. As far as an amplifier goes, you would lose one of the rear tool compartments but an amp can easily be placed back behind the seat.
He offered to cut away at the plastic lining behind the rear seat and try his best to put a sub and a fiberglass enclosure ($350-400 for the enclosure alone) back there. Combined with his age and my down payment- I respectfully said thanks anyway. I will continue to look for more options though.

I went to another 'Al & Eds' in San Diego and found this Pro Wedge Subwoofer enclosure from JL Audio. It is small enough to fit under the '60' side of the rear seat of the Supercrew. It has an 8" woofer. It seemed light enough to remove so you could lower the rear seats. I will probably get this sub for my truck. I also looked into
-changing out the rear 5x7's in the doors (2 quality 5x7's in the rear)
- 2 tweeter/5" mid base speaker combos for the front (would build a panel modified to fit in the 5x7 slots)
-an 'Eclipse' 5 channel amplifier, and the sub.
Total damage- around 1200 bucks.
Gotta work some more before that all happens- but it can be done!
(the eight inch model is #CS108T-W0, i think the 10" model might fit also)

SurfinCowboy-
I'm not sure if you've chosen your sub yet, but I found an interesting option at clarionmultimedia.com. It's a self contained powered subwoofer in a factory-appearing enclosure that fits in front of the bench or center console (in case of capt. chairs). Just thought it would be worth a look.
