Angry BRAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am wondering if anyone besides me has a HORRIBLE sound coming from there brakes. It only happens when you are at a dead stop and you just roll forward a few feet and come to a stop again(ex. you are the 3rd person in line at a Stop sign and have to inch forward). It also happens in reverse to. It is really starting to annoy the ***** outta me. It really embarassing to be driving such a nice truck(not to mention expensive) and have to crouch down in your seat because you ashamed of the horrible sounds your breaks are making.

Speaking from a person with the exact same truck, you have a problem! I have no brake noise at all. If your brakes are making noise it needs to go back to the dealer.(you already know that of course)Most likely something simple but it's always a pain to bring it back for servicing.

My SuperCrew is making the same noise. It sound like a sqeaking/screehing noise when the brake are applied or right after you release them. I just had the Rancho lift kit installed so I thought it was something done by the people who installed the lift kit? I was going to bring it back to them???

well i guess the only thing neat about this is, when i drive the truck later this evening i'll try to duplicate what your speaking of. it's nice being able to kick these ideas around so you can make a better decision on the problems your having.

to date, a couple times i thought i have heard a faint squeeking noise. very faint though. wasn't sure if it was me or someone else. figured if it was my brakes it was probably just the mechanicals finding peace with themselves being new and all.

have had a lot of brake dust on the front wheels.

Hey RICCOG... How did you make out with brake noise you were having? I have not had a chance to bring my SuperCrew into the shop yet?

I unfortunatly haven't had a chance to bring it into the shop either. I am a self employed contractor and I basically work 7 days a week. Hopefully we will get some rain one day and i'll be able to bring it back to the dealership.

Hi Richo

Richo,

Did you manage to solve the groaning noise at dead stop?

Please reply. I have the same exact problem like yours on my car.

My ABS is not working it seems, and that could be the problem.
Was your ABS working?

Do reply at my email.

Have a nice day

My email is at contact@terencelau.com

I had the same sound, like a hard metal scraping metal sound with a RRRRR RRRRRR sound to it, I replaced all brakepads and cleaned the rotors up, and its gone! ( although the damn pads I had installed are not ceramic, they make brakedust ) so clean your rotors up and get good brake pads and try, I did this 7 months ago and I forgot I even had the problem

If you are just barely letting off of the brake pedal but not all the way and rolling the noise is normal. What you are hearing is brake drag. Brakes are still in a clamping position but being forced to move. It will also do it in reverse also. Nothing to be worried about. Bet you could get most any vehicle to do it.

The noise he is describing is not brake drag. I have the same noise in my 02 , and have had it for awhile. The noise is like a loud "Groan", and can be heard clearly at some distance. It happens when you are almost stopped and barely touching the brakes. It only happens once in awhile, but is very annoying. I believe the noise is coming from the rear disc brakes. I had the fronts done, and the noise persists. If you apply the brakes hard, there is no noise at all. I believe new pads and rotor cleaning will fix the problem, imho!
