I'm Wondering the same thing. I'm in the same situation. I heard about a vibration of some sorts in the 4x4 models. It seems to be few and far between though. Good Luck.

RIght, there were some vibration problems. Also, there was a problem with slow throtle response which was cured by a computer reflash. There was a problem with the cam phasers causings a knocking sound in the 5.4 engines also.

Thumbs down 04

I bought an 04' SCrew brand new. I've had more problems with this thing in the 30,000 miles I have on it than I did with my old 99' Silverado Z71 that had 130,000 miles when I traded it. However my brother-in-law who also has an 04 bought brand new about the same time has had no trouble. I'll never buy one again though and am seriously thinking about getting rid of mine before the warranty runs out.

04 was a bad bad year, the used ones are the bad ones no one wants to keep, My last 04 F-150 blew out the axle seals at 35,000 Km, I can't speak for the 05+ F-150's. never gave Ford a 3rd chance.

Knock on wood grain my truck is doing okay minus the little kinks. Seems like cars/trucks aren't made like before.

Many talk about the slow throttle response. I haven't noticed it but I also don't really step on it much either. Gas too expensive to mash on the peddle.

Bought a white 04 with 20K miles about a week ago . took it to the dealer because of cam lifter noise and they discovered the cylinder was rubbing against the cylinder wall and scored the wall.

It was still under warranty so im getting a new engine from the factory but i just waiting for them to install it.
