SuperCrew gas mileage
I think it's about time we compare gas mileage. So we can all compare apples with apples, we need to state the 4 following things:
1) Size of engine.
2) 2X4 or 4X4.
3) Wheel size (16" or 17")
4) Type of driving (Highway, City, or Mixed).
Anything else that you would think would be helpful. Some of us have a heavy foot and some do not. Mountain driving or flat land, ect.
On my first 300 miles my 5.4L, 2X4, 17" wheels, in mixed driving, mileage was 15.5mpg. The driving was with no a/c and I have a light foot on the gas pedal.

5.4L V8
4x4
17" wheel/tires (RT)
City driving and one highway trip
1466 miles so far. averaging 15.67 per gallon.
Has anyone replaced the air filter with a K&N filter? If so Have you noticed a difference in performance/mileage. I had one in my ranger, and would like to put one in my Supercrew.

Well, I don't have a SuperCrew yet (haven't even ordered it yet...will get an order in soon), but I can give you the numbers for my dad's Expy...
'99 Expedition EB 4x4 (5500lb...500 more than a SCrew)
5.4L/4R100/3.73 gears
17" wheels
K&N
he averages right around 15mpg
The truck my SuperCrew will replace...
'90 Bronco (@4750lb)
5.8L/E4OD (210hp/315ft-lb)
3.55 gears/31" tires
I get about 12.5 mpg with this truck (thank god I don't commute with this unit!). It is significantly slower than the Expy as well.

Mixed driving......Very first tank straight from the dealer and this wasn't a complete full to empty run.
210 miles filled up with 13.8 gallons = 15.21 not bad for a first tank and a truck with 217 miles on it total. Heck my 4.6 4x4 didn't do this good!!!

3200 miles on truck.
I get 11.5-15mpg. But as I got more broken in and passed my first oil change (couldn't wait - did it at 2500Miles) I REALLY like to stomp on it and never pass up a chance to haul a*&!
I got 15-17 in my '91 Aerostar w/4.0L Now that was horrendous. It felt like driving a 4 cyl. but drank like a V-8 (Drove it hard too...In fact drove it into the ground to an ugly catostrophic engine failing death!)
I've posted elsewhere that fuel economy in these trucks is only a little more important to me than cup holders and adjustable pedals. Is it worth caring about? Sure! Will we ever be able to brag about mileage? Naw. But that's OK with me. I like big and fast. This is a really fun truck.
Congrats to you all who can consistently pull 15 mpg. I admire your discipline.
Best to all,
Joe

I know this sounds crazy but after my first fill up last night (full from dealer) I found I got 17 MPG with my 5.4. I know it sounds crazy after reading other posts of 15 MPG or so. My first tank was about 90% freeway and 10% around town. I've been driving it easy so far so maybe thats the reason for the mileage. After a thousand miles or so I'll put it to more of a test.

2nd Tank of gas.
306 miles 21.2 gals = 14.43
This tank was just back and forth to work stop and go.
Still happy with the mileage but even more happy with the truck. I hope everyone is as impressed with their truck as I am with mine.

First tank w/Superchip:

Whooooa!
OK, so I hauled *** all around town, purposely missed lights to drag race, and kept going from 60-90 on the freeway just because it felt so good
I did a couple off road trails too. Several jaunts into 4x4 low just to get up the face of the hills. That can't be good for mileage.
I'll behave better this tank. (Although I already "Had" to blast off leaving the gas station.

Any other 'chipped SCrews out there?

Just got mine and drove it from Texas to DC. Its 4x4, 5.4 and 17" wheels with posi. First tank with mixed driving and AC on was 15mpg. Second tank - highway 15.99 with AC @ 76mph. Third tank - highway - 16.2 @ 76mph. Fourth tank - highway - 16.8 @ 76mph. Fifth tank - highway - 17.5 @ 76mph. Truck is BONE STOCK. That last tank was going through the mountains!!! I figure the engine was breaking in so it shouldn't go up anymore but it could as there are only 1500 miles on it as of now. WHAT A TRUCK!!!!
