Painting Factory Running Boards

Has anyone painted their factory running boards on their screw? Ive got the plastic ones, which get slick as hell in the rain, and was gonna see if anyone has done anything to theirs to make them easier to use. I currently have mine sitting in the garage, because all my hardware was stolen outta my toolbox. but i have to put them back on because my pregnant fiance can no longer get in my truck without having to jump, which hurts her so she said either buy new ones, which i cant afford, or put my stock ones back on. Its on a 01 screw. i was thinking either 3m undercoating or maybe even the duplicolor aerosol spray on bedliner just to hold them over for max 6-8 months. Let me see pics if you have them

Bedliner might be worth a shot, maybe some adhesion promoter so it will stick better. Also you might try some skateboard grip tape on the steps too. My dad uses that stuff on the steps of his end dump trailer. It works pretty good, and is pretty cheap.
