315/70-17? on 02 SCREW

I've purchased a new to me 02 Screw. I've read every post on adding these tires, but no one has addressed if a tuner will correct the down shifting issue. I plan on lifting 4 inches and putting 315/70-17 on a set of 17x9 rims I have from my 98 Scab.

I have 3.55 gears, and i know it will be slower, but if I buy a tuner will that fix the speedo, and the down shifting I've read about on here using 315's.

Will the tuner allow me to change shift pionts?

If I can get the lift and add the tires, and make it shift just like it does now other than being a dog off the line I could live w/that.

I do not plan on regearing...

Thanks, Donnie

regearing is the proper way of dealing with the issue, and modifying your shift points to compensate for the change in tire diameter is frowned on by some. however, it can be done.

why not a 6'' lift?

My Screw has the 5.4, 3.55 gears and 35's. The performance is ok, but it's nothing to brag about. I used my Superchips tuner to correct my speedometer/odometer and I raised the RPM a little for my shift points. The only other perforrmance mod I have is a K&N filter in the OEM airbox which I drilled out for more airflow.
You have to look at the big picture also. How do you use your truck? I don't tow/haul anything heavy so I can live with 35's and the 3.55 gears. If I did any heavy towing/hauling, I would have stuck with 33's or I'd be forced to regear.

Thanks guys... The heaviest thing I tow is my Quad. Most of my driving is Hwy. A lot of people that I've read have put 35's on have complained about cronic downshifts on the Hwy and that is my concern. No one really mentions if it can be fixed with a tuner.....

I understand that regear is the best, but for now I just can't afford it...

I can live with a dog off the line....... just constant down shifting would get old.

What's the best tuner for this application?

Anymore info or testament from someone that has done this is more than welcome........

Thanks, So much Donnie

Most people agree the Superchips is the best for the 97-03 trucks. I've also read good things about the Edge, but it's more expensive.
