biggest tires on stock 01 4x4?
You can fit up to a 35x12.50 by using the oem wheels. However, this is an extremely tigh t fit and they will rub the frame at full steering lock. I would stick with 33's unless you plan on lifting the truck in the near future.
Why don't you put a set of 30" or 285's and get full range of motion on the fronts without any rubbing anywhere. Thats a big enough tire to look good on a unlifted truck. You could also get a front end leveling kit on ebay fairly cheap or crank up the torsion bars to improve the overall stance.

I was looking into this a few weeks ago. Without cranking the torsion bars, the safest bet is 285/70/17. With torsion bar lift, 295's. There is still a chance of rubbing fronts when wheels turned and frontend compressed.
I ended up with 275/70/17. Just a little bigger than stock but looks much better. My biggest fear was loss of power and mpg since I only have 3.55's. I can definitely tell the difference with the taller tire and I'm glad I didn't go any bigger.

I have 33x12.50 mickey thompson baja claws on my stock 01 4x4 supercrew. No rubbing at all and they fill up the wheel wells real nice. Definitely gave the truck a good tough look. I have 3.55ls gears too and didnt notice any power loss. Gas milage went down a little bit tho

thanks guys...i think im gunna go with a 33-12.50 on my stock wheels...i have the 3/55 gears also and the only mod i have is true daul straits with all of the cats...i should'nt loose any power should i?
the biggest i have seen is 31X10.5 you might have to drop a wheel size to make them fit right. or you could do a cheap lift and go bigger.

Really? Most 97-03 F-150 4x4's came stock with 265/70-17 tires which are essentially a 32x10.50.
