Replacing tailgate for 05 Screw

The tailgate on my o5 screw has some rust and should be replaced. Does anyone know where to find this part any cheaper then in the links I have below?

Here's the cheapest I've found, it is for a 'styleside' which I"m pretty much certain is another name for the standard body style for this year. (let me know if I"m wrong though):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...hippingPayment

And here's the next cheapest (about $400 w/ shipping):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...4506.m20.l1116

Assuming either of these would fit, is the price about right?

Check your local craigslist. Usually have them listed for less than that.

What about your warranty? I don't have it in front of me but I think it's covered for 6 or 7 years. Be worth checking with the dealer.

Member has a silver one for sale here. Shouldn't be much to get it painted.

He wants $300 plus shipping...that first link I posted has a tailgate that comes to costing: $290 w/ shipping.

Can someone confirm that it's the right tailgate? If so, sounds like the price is good enough as is..........

Yes that is the tailgate for your truck, however from the pictures it seems like it is missing the oval and Handle. Though you could probably put your old ones on it.

You were right by the way Styleside is the name for your truck.

Rust? On a 3 year old truck? If it's that bad on the tailgate, I'd be worried about where else it could be like that.

Thanks for the feedback. I bought it last night. The rust was odd, I know. I just bought the truck last month. It was a fleet vehicle that was sold at auction. No rust other then on the bottom, inner edge of the tailgate. Which has me thinking it's coming from whatever the truck had been carrying? The bed has a rhino liner that otherwise is in good shape.

Other then that it was a very good deal. 05 lariat, loaded, 75k miles, some surface scratches, no dents or dings (other then the rust), strong engine, transmssion, brakes and interior (though tires are bad), for: $9,900.

New tailgate and and new tires will come to $1,150.

eBay, not sure I'd buy from eBay again but it's over now. In the end, he claims he lost money on it. Maybe he did.

Watch out for buying out of town... shipping is so jacked up at this point you'll be 150 in shipping on a 300.00 tailgate.... Craigs list normally works.... then pay 50.00 to get it painted...

thats not too bad. I found a new one locally on CL for $150 and painted for $120. The dealership had bought a new box for someone (which comes with a tailgae from Ford )but didn't need the tailgate. New from ford they are pricey!

Why not just pay the 150 to paint yours?
