Just bought a 2003 DSG SuperCrew!

Hey everybody, new member here. I bought a 2003 SuperCrew this week and am loving it so far! I got a great price on it and it was a definite no-brainer decision. Great forum by the way. I've spent hours upon hours searching through threads ha ha.

Thanks! Now I just have to get rid of the shell, and get a cover instead. I was thinking of getting the Checkmate one. Veryyy nice truck by the way!

I really like the truck, and the color. Are you sure you want to lose the cap? The caps that year fit so well, they look like they belong there - and you can take them right off if you need the vertical space to haul something. Of course, its your truck & your call - I just thought it really looked good on there.

Thanks guys'. I'm enjoying the truck right now. I'm used to having cars all my life, so the stopping distance, parking, etc are much different ha ha. I agree, the cap looks good but.....I really prefer a cover by far. Makes the truck look a lot cleaner. I have the cap for sale for $650 in the classifieds unless someone wants to trade it for a a hard cover that's painted DSG. I doubt many people are willing to do that though.

Thanks a lot guys'. I'm amazed at how many nice looking trucks everyone has on this forum. Definitely lots of ideas for mods to go off from.

Geesh... I didn`t know people were into trucks for looks only...

I too have a cap on, just like the one above, and it not only looks good IMO, but it also keeps all the crap that I need for work dry and locked up... and the dust out of the cab... a thing the Expy would have trouble with (see I do surveying for a living so my equipment tends to be quite muddy).

Just my take on the matter....

Z-man.

Great looking truck. Glad to hear you are removing the bed cap. Will look much better.

So tell us more! How many miles? run a carfax or know anything much about the history? What kind of modifications does it currently have aside of the obvious wheels and fel door, what do you have planned? I know I sound like a strict father with his daughter going on her first date, but here you gotta say every detail

And welcome to the site!

Hahaha, no problem at all. I traded in my car at a local dealership that I have been to many times because I wanted to get out of my car and into one with lower payments. I saw this truck on lot, and took it or a test drive and it drove great, so I figured I would start working some numbers. Before I went to the dealership I printed out all the trade-in, retail value, and private party kelly blue book values about the truck so I could use them as reference as to what the dealer was asking. I had them run a carfax report and it came back clean. The paint is overall in good shape with the exception of scratches here and there which I guess is expected for a 6 year old car. The retail price was a little over 16,000 but the dealer had it for 13,000. At first they weren't willing to work with the price to much because they said they were already selling it for a very discounted price which was true, and it was roughly private party price. I got them down to 11,800 and they wouldn't budge anymore than that so I figured I would take it. The previous owner put on a fabtech 3.5 spindle lift, Procomp 285/75/16 Tires on it with Procomp 16" wheels, a new fuel door, shell, bedrug liner, billet grill, and Westin running boards. The car has 30,000 miles on it, with the 4.6L V8, cloth interior, single CD player, power windows, doors, mirrors, etc.

My plans for the car once I can save enough money haha, is to lower the car with belltechs 3"/4" kit, on black 22" rims with a chrome or polished lip, and possibly clear corners (if not I like the lightning one's as well). Thats about it for now and should keep me plenty busy.

P.S. Does anyone want the Shell/Cap. It's for sale for $650.00 to sell fast! I'm in California.
