Running Water????
It rained crazy this weekend. About 10". I took my truck out yesterday and every time I braked I heard water trickling noise from my pass side floor board area. So I thought nothing of it and just kept driving. After about 10-15 min it must have drained out because it wasn't happening anymore. Anyone heard this or know what is holding in the water? Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks
Did you drive through standing water?
Use a flat head screwdriver and pry up on your passenger door sills. (the black diamond plate plastic) There are 3 clips and they are stubborn as they have a rubber grommet around them. The plastic is pretty damn strong so go ahead and take it off. You'll see the wiring harnesses to the truck ran in that channel.
There are rubber plugs covering drain holes, one might have been missing and the water made its way out when you were in stop and go traffic. Check underneath the truck were the channels are and youll see the rubber plugs.

I didnt drive through any water. The car was just sitting in my drive way, and didnt move for about a day of solid rain.
But thanks for the pic, it really helps alot, ill check it out the sills when i get home.
Anyother ideas?

ok, so check the door sills. Towards the front of the truck there was a pool of water. Where could it be coming from? I didnt drive through water or even drive at all. Can it be leaking through the door?
I know there was a TSB on the leaky 3rd brake light. Apparently Ford didnt seal it and it requires you to take off the light and use some sillicone and draw a bead under where the light sits and reinstall the light so its water proof and then water cant leak into the cab.
Thats the only way I see water getting in if you never drove the truck. Check the carpet allllllll the way in the back closets to the rear wall and see if its damp.
Here is a pic that shows all the channels and paths that water could take in our truck. I took this when I stripped the cab down.

So i have to disassemble the 3rd brake light and seal it that way or just run a bead of silicone between the outer plastic and inner shell?
But, Ill check the doors too, would that make it leak into the sills and pool up.
Pics will be up tonight after work.

I dont know about the 3rd brake light. just unscrew it and look at it and determine what to do......
I thought about the doors leaking, but there would be no way for it to pool into your sill area. The drain holes for the doors are at each end at the bottom corners, and drain onto the ext sill.
Might want to treat the channels with mold blocker (found at Lowes) I did it after I had water in my sills as a extra precaution after I dired them.

If it was the 3rd brake light, wouldnt it have to go all the way down the sides of the truck into the channels, which would mean the headliner and BOTH side of the truck were wet. I dont know im just asking.
But was your light leaking? What did you do with yours. I think ill just seal it around the outside between the plastic and the inner plastic. Or i guess i can get a aftermarket 3rd brake light.
Thanks for the info about the mold blocker. Is it a spray?

Its a spray made by "Damp Rid" its sold at Home depot and Lowes. And no look at the pic I put up. The water would trickle down your back wall to the hump under your seats and down and into your side channels. Thats why people also reported thier rear window motor shorting out. I wouldnt seal it around the outside, it will get weathered, crack and look like crap. But yeah a nice smoked LED 3rd light would be great, im assuming they have a Oring built in.
The water is only on the left side though. You think it could just be going onto the left side and not the right? Im going to get that mold spray today. Does it smell? I also ordered a LED 3rd brake light for the truck, hope it solves the problem.
Surprised I didn't see this thread.
I have the exact same water problem. When my truck was under warranty I had Ford re-do allllll of the weather stripping in my truck. This did not work.
It seemed to help, but when it rained heavy I could still hear that water sloshing under the passenger side. My next step is to purchase the updated 3rd brake light from Tasca Ford (www.getfordparts.com, $25.00)
Supposedly this updated version has a better seal. I've seen people use the method you mentioned about sealing it with some RTV... but what happens when your 3rd brake light goes out? Thats why I opting to get the new one from Tasca.
