She's gone...

Well today my truck was sold. It really kinda sucks to see her go, only to get an old Honda Accord. I have to drive the Accord for senior year and after I graduate (and hopefully get the HOPE scholarship) and am on my way to college, my parents are gonna pass down the Accord to my sister to learn how to drive in. They've already said they would get me a truck after I graduate... either a 04+ F150 or a 98 Silverado Z71. And the day I get the truck is the day it's going in the shop for a suspension lift, tires, wheels, exhaust, aux. lighting, sound system, etc... (hopefully lol) so I'll be on here from time to time. Thanks for helping me with my questions about my truck. I've had fun with this truck and I am kinda partial to it. But thanks again for all the help.

-Brad

I feel for ya. I would hate to give up my 01 Screw.

If it makes you feel any better - when I went to school all the school parking lots slots were NARROW. Lots of the kids drove beaters and it didn't take long to collect lots of dings. Even the nice cars looked like junkers after 2-3 years.

After I had been there a few years a true car guy I knew from HS showed up with a beautiful old Olds 442. It looked like new. He must have had 8k worth of parts and paint and who knows how much labor into the thing. He didn't have a secure place to park it (on campus) and it only took about 2 months before some vandals broke the windows, slashed the seats and stole the speakers. The guy left school at the end of the semester and I dont think he ever came back.

Focus on school and dont let the distractions get ya down. You can always get the truck of your dreams later when the good jobs start rolling in. Good Luck

Believe me getting in to a good college is my #1 concern, however I am going to be getting a nice lifted truck for college as a sort of graduation present because my sister is getting the honda. Im planning on going to GA Southern and i've been to the campus before and seen a lot of big trucks down there.

I know exactly what you are going through. I sold my truck last year to help finance a kitchen remodel.

At least in your situation, getting a good education is more justifiable (sp?) then a new kitchen. Shhh...don't tell that to my wife! Fortunately these days, there are plenty of trucks, SUV's available. So I am (again) getting that itch for a new rig.

As for you, more power to you on getting a higher education. That will never be taken away. Who knows, maybe when you graduate, 1/2 ton trucks will be getting 35-40 MPG...

I almost know your pain. I went to the dealership to look at a honda civic b/c gas was killing me in the screw. Luckily I didn't get rid of it b/c I got a station transfer that saves me about 200 miles a week. Be careful reading the boards though. Most people come here to post problems they are having. Don't let it scare you away when it's time to get a new one.
Good luck w/ the education!
