Family and I are thinking about getting a travel trailer and know NOTHING about towing a trailer, towed small ski boats but never a trailer.

My 2001 Screw 4x4 5.4 ltr Lariat came with a tow package does anyone know whats included in that?

Oversized Radiator?
Oversized Brakes?
Transmission Cooler?
Other?

The only think I see is the wire hook up (works) and reciever....thanks

 

Tranny cooler, heavy duty shocks and a trailor hitch. The package used to include a larger radiator but they stopped adding it in 01. I rember there was some controversy over this because Ford still advertised the large radiator as part of the package.

 

so does that mean an 01 model with the tow package has the larger radiator? or did nothing after 2000 get the larger radiator?

 

I don't believe the 01 and later trucks got the larger radiator. Mine has a standard radiator.

 

now i feel extremly slighted...

 

The radiator was a larger single core instead of the original tow package dual core. Many people grumbled that the new single core was not good enough but Visteon proved it had the same cooling as the old double and much better than the standard single. Ford still had to settle due to a class action false advertising claim. I got 100 bucks. Some people opted for a replacement radiator to the old dual core. Since all this happened no one has really had any major problems with the new high capacity single core so Visteon was right. 118k on my tow package single core and never had a cooling issue even when towing.

 

Good point. I've never had a problem or read a single post about overheating.
