hey guys,

the mirror caps I did myself. I just taped them off with some good automotive paint tape (several layers) then sanded them down with 200 grit sandpaper (sand for a long while, constantly changing the paper. It will look like the texture is all gone but its not.) then I jumped to a 600 grit paper to finish it off (again sand for a long while, always changing paper when it clogs) Make sure to wash them with dawn before sanding, after the 200 grit, and after the 600 grit. Let them dry thoroughly on the last wash then I used filler primer (3 coats) and wett sanded between each coat. After that I took them to a local shop that did my flares/handles and they painted/cleared them for 25 each. I did all the prep myself b/c every shop in town did not want to sand them, they all said "you cant paint that textured stuff it wont stick, sanded or not" No problems as of yet and they still look great, even if they went sour im only out about 75 bucks....

Since this will be my first post on the site, figured this would be as good as any thread to post in. Here's my 06 FX4, bought brand new and only drive on weekends (company vehicle during week). Got it right after we built our house. Haven't done any mods, all my money goes to mod's for my Raptor 700 right now. Later this year looking to put a lift and 35's on
pics taken with camera phone
