First Full Tank -- 18.6 mpg!!!!

After a week with my '05 SCrew, and my first full tank, I'm excited to say that I hit 18.6 mpg! I drive 55 miles each way to work, all highway. I don't gun it off the line, I try to brake slowly and smoothly, and I set the cruise control at 65. I know it's only one tankful, but if I can keep up the driving habits, I'm no worse off than I was in my '03 SportTrac.

That's what I average every tank. 70 mph cruise. 80% highway driving. Sometimes I average higher.

I wish I had the self control to drive like that. I'm just happy when I get 12mpg. (Almost always City driving)

I dont even calculate my gas mileage lol...

Then again I didn't exactly buy the truck for gas mileage. If I wanted that I would of bought a 4 banger, but then it dawned on me. I would rather be up nice and high than low. And also if I do hit something I'd rather go through it than see the result of being in a little car.

lol I was happy when I got 10 mpg. When my parents paid for my gas, I would get like 7-9 mpg lol. They stopped doing that.

Wow! Great mileage!

I'm getting about 14.5 on gas, or 12 on E85. Mostly city driving. I really have to take it easy though and resist the urge to hear the V8 roar!

About all I can add is you could install a vacuum guage to help you drive with. We used to use them at Holley carb for testing. It would help keep you out of the fuel enrichment section of the flow curve.

Same here. If I can't enjoy driving it I might as well park it.

My all time best is 16.5 highway and 12.5 city. This was summer driving now in winter city drops to 10.3 but I'm no help with staying off the go pedal. For some reason it feels more responsive. All I've done is modify the stock air box to let the K&N filter element breath.

I'm getting 8.8 mpg according to the in-dash computer and 10 mpg on the Edge. This cold weather is getting old. The in-dash is usually more accurate when I do the math.
