My First Ford!

Hello All,

This is my first Ford Truck, I've been a GM guy for the last 15 years or so....was in the market for a new truck and the Chevy & GMC guys just wouldn't deal.....My dad and brother have had Fords and never had any major problems. I got an 2007 Supercrew Lariat 5.4ltr, I am very impressed with the truck so far, actually the interior is better quality than my wife's 07 Yukon XL.....

The only problem, and maybe someone can help me with this, is the driver door and rear passenger side door don't seem to close all the way. If I go over large bumps I can hear the doors rattle like it is not shut all the way......If I am in the truck I can take the door handle and pull towards me and you can feel the door come in slightly like the latch is loose or something......Can you adjust the door where the latch is tighter?

Again, I really like the truck and thanks for any help in advance.

Andy

I also notice that noise comming from the drivers side rear door on my 2007 Screw, however it is only when the roads have big pot holes when I hit them......

Welcome Andi,
same Problem i had with my 05. You could even see the Driverside doors not shutting right. The local Dealer here also has a Bodyshop and they did a good job aligning them. They do need quiet some more force to shut now.
looks like Ford still hasn´t fired that ignorant Person on the Assemblyline, yet...

Thats exactly what mine does, only hear the noise when I hit a big bump or pot hole.

I loosened the screws on the door latch and pushed the latch as much as i could, maybe 1/16" and then tightened back up, it helped a little but not much....if you look down the door seam where it meets with the back door, you can see that the driver's door is about a 1/8" or more out compared to the back door. The passenger side doors line up evenly......

Oh, I am sure every assembly line has one or two of them..... But if that is all I have to worry about I am already better off than with my last truck.....

Thanks again for the welcome.......

I am very much a fix it myself or at least tear something up trying kind of guy, but with a new truck I would have to recommend you take it to the dealer and have them fix it. Even though you probably aren't going to mess anything up making such a minor adjustment, as long as it is under warranty you might as well let them fix it for you. Problem is, if you try to adjust somthing and end up making it worse, then if you do take it to the dealer they might try to get out of it by saying it was damage that you caused when you were "fixing it". Just my 2 cents. Mine just got out of warranty and if anything goes wrong with it now I will just attempt to fix it myself.

I'm not going to mess with it again, I'll take it in next week to dealer for them to adjust.....kind of depressing though, just drove off the lot 2 days ago and already bringing it back......Oh well, could be worse (Watch now something else will go wrong since I said that)

To be honest, almost every time I have purchased a new vehicle, or used and still under warranty, there was something I noticed after a couple of days that required me taking it to the dealer. (This is not just Fords) That's the nature of most things; once you use it for a while you notice things that weren't apparent initially. Hopefully you won't have any other problems.

Hello new Ford family member!

Never feel bad taking a new vehicle back for minor easy to fix stuff.
Make the salesman that sold you the truck jump around and do the legwork and dont be afraid to ask for/demand a loner car/truck. If you go or call ahead and let them know they usually can make arrangments...

Good Luck!

Wooo Hoooo another convert. Welcome to the board. I switched over the first year the Expiditions came out. I had learned from my job it was hard to kill a Ford. After the first Ford we never looked back. The two cars that have hit my front end would have torn it off with a chevvy but just bounced off my F-150. Any way it's a good excuse to change the look of the truck.
