looking at an 06 4x4 screw lariat...pls advise

hey all...looking to get back in the family...

considering a 06 lariat screw 4x4...04/06 build (but need to get in service date)
33k miles 1 owner
black/black leather
3.55 lsd (little better mpg?) door jamb said B6 or H6 axle
trailer/tow
power rear window
cd audiophile
20s w/ the pirellis (would prefer 18s)
pretty much loaded except the sunroof

also has kn filter and i beleive magnaflow exhaust (but not sure)

dealer askin 25650...have him down to 24750...i need to get a build sheet to confirm it has what they say it has...

seems to be some 07s coming to mkt at the 26500-27500 level...also have new 08s at around 33 w/out x-plan

anything special bout an 06 i should look out for?? i was gonna get it inspected by a ford dealer

any comments? any thoughts on price??

thanks
bill

I'm no expert, but it sounds like the price is pretty well right. I have a very similiar truck and I don't think I would take anything under $26k for mine.

As for the Perilli's...I really enjoy those tires. A very smooth and quiet ride. If the truck get a "clean bill of health" then I think you may have yourself a sweet deal.

There are definitely deals to be had. I recently got an 06 Screw 4x4 King Ranch with Navi for 24,200. Look at the Ford dealers for program trucks. Mine was the Gen Mangers truck and serviced religiously. If you get one from a ford dealership you get a really good used finance rate; around 3 % and they extend your warranty to 75,000 miles.

Another side note. The 20" pirellis are actually cheaper than the 18". I didnt' want the 20 in wheels either, but when I found out the price was reasonable it didn't bother me.

for sure. i was just looking at the dealer i bought my 07 from, 07 lariat screw loaded except navi (had the moon and 20's) almost 31grand. stickered for 39. i'd wait its a fair price, but if you can find a leftover 07, i'd say thats your better bet IMO.

i was looked around for a while before i decided to sell my lightning for my current truck. Its an 2004 Roush stage 1, with 27k miles and i paid 21.5k. The roush upgrage is 8k on top of the reg price for the vehicle. with the money I saved I had the dealer install the stage 2 suspension, deleted the stripes and changed the bf goodrich with pirelli scorpions.

Mileage sounds high to me. You'll be out of warranty in no time. With gas projected to go to $4 this year, there'll be better deals. Love my 20's. I put 'em on my '04. Fills the wheel well up nicely. And, the tires are cheaper, as already stated.

What part of the country are you in?.........at Thanksgiving time I was looking for a King Ranch and the dealers in my area (Southern California) were in the 26K-28K range for an '05.....finally ended up with an '05 KR with custom 20's for $20K even........private party.......

thanks all for the feedback...

i am gonna give it a few days and see what happens...i feel like i can do better...would think something in the 23s would be doable...but i am not greedy if it checks out ok

any idea what a ford extended warranty would run to say take it to 4/50 or longer?? i know there is a lot of markup and some internet dealers prob have an extended factory warranty for under 1000k???

also what MPG should i expect for 35 mile commute?...mostly hiway...am i gonna stay above 15 with the 20s and the aftermkt intake/exhaust??

thanks again
bill

I got my 06 KR in the Little Rock Arkansas area. It was listed for 28,900. It was carfax clean, we got 3.9 % apr for 3 yrs, an extended warranty to 75000 miles, it was for certified, free service for a year, and a bed extender thrown in! It ended up being a really sweet deal.

Ask yourself... Do I want to get lowest price or fewest problems? IMHO, buy a truck without the K&N, Manaflow, etc.. Some want these done already, but I'm a fan of boring, stock vehicles. I'd also ensure that you get any prospective truck on a lift to look for signs of wear, check bearings and tirewear all round and look for offroad abuse. Find a dealer who will play and who won't say "insurance won't let us do that". Good dealers are out there who will do this...

I'd also CARFAX that truck to ensure that being "just under the warranty" isn't due to rollback on odometer. I found 2 trucks out of 10 that I searched had really suspicious differences between the mileage stated in the online website and the CARFAX indicated mileage. Be careful out there.
