2008 F150 - Integrated Reverse Camera

My '08 F150 SuperCrew Lariat has the integrated reverse camera system. Here are two photos to show it off.

The first one is of the camera built into the tailgate handle:

The second is a few of the small LCD screen that appears in the rear view mirror when you put the truck in reverse:

I'm glad to see that Ford added this in a "classy" way - not some camera just screwed under the handle like on a few GM's I've seen recently.

I'm also a big fan of having the LCD in the rear-view, it eliminates the need to have the navigation system option (often $2,500-3,000) if all you want is the camera.

I'm debating adding one to mine - I have the parking sensors so I'm not sure it's going to be at the top of my "mod" list but I'm very impressed!

Keep the tailgate locked at all times!! Good point. There must be a harness to it unless it is wireless.

Thanks!

I'm sure you could do it - but there may be cheaper aftermarket alternatives as these parts will more than likely have to come from Ford directly via your friendly local dealership.

Yes you can. Its a little on the expensive side but then again what's expensive to some may not be to others. Do a quick search on the forum and you can find some info on the part numbers and prices.

Talking

I have the same option on my '08 HD Screw, it is a great aid in reversing and the dotted black "center line" is great for hooking up.
Keep the lift gate locked.

Here is some info from a previous thread on the Ford backup camera. I would like to know if Ford or anyone has come out with a kit that duplicates what Ford has done at a better price.
