Headlight Modification on 2006 F-150 Ext cab

I just upgrade the headlight bulbs in my truck an I was insterested in knowing if you can remove the center cap in the headlight housing. Will it cause the light not to be directed correctly? I would think that I would get more light if I removed that cap. Can anyone help me out here?
thanks

Don't take the cap out. It reflects the light from the bulb to the parabolic reflecter. Everything is then sent forward. Once you take it out, you'll have non-directional light. Same amount of light, but not directed, so you'll perceive it as less.
