Most often, the rattling sound behind you is the seat belt in the back seat slapping around.

If it's actually coming from inside the door, it's possibly the wiring harness for the speaker smacking up against the inside of the door frame. Also, I often find remnants of broken plastic fasteners floating around inside the doors. The Dearborn plant is notorious for that kind of thing.

when i open and slam the door it sounds funny, compared to the passenger rear door. i thought maybe it was missing a bumper on the door jamb but they're all there. guess i'll have to take it in. the truck is so quiet except when i hit bumps in the road (like an alley) its sounds like the damn thing is gonna open up, it rattles that bad. but when i pull on it from the outside its tight as can be, so its a good possibility that there is something loose/foreign rattling in the door.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the speaker wire. I taped it up and the noise went away.

My passenger front door sounded like that and it turned out to be the mounting screws on the bottom of the panel coming loose. A few turns of a Phillips screw driver and all was well. That was on a 2002 SCREW.
