High milage screw

Looking at getting an 01 Screw with 200k miles, anything I should check for due to high miles, and do you think it would be a good idea with such high miles. Also, what are the common problems with the high mileage screws?

take a look at the tires, if they are missing little chunks of rubber you can probly assume they used it offroad. also take a look under and see if you can spot any leaks. it doesnt hurt to run a carfax on it either, a couple dollars could end up saving you hundred, maybe thousands. 200k is alot of miles so make shur you find everything out about this truck before buying it. good luck

Yea, he said he just changed a bunch of stuff on it. "Tires, front brakes, upper and lower ball joints and arms, drive shaft bearings, throttle body service, fuel injectors, transmission service, rear axle service, transfer case service. All this work has been done in the last one year." <<<< All that to be exact. Im more worried about the engine giving out from the miles than I am have to change a seal or 2. So I guess Im wondering, if well maintained, how long will those 5.4 last?

Mine lasted 175, but I had some over heating issues do to my propane bifuel system which I beleived led to a bottom end problem which killed my engine.

Not sure if you are stil checking this thread but my brother in law's 5.4 had 175K on it when he bought the truck and driove it another 50K+ with no issues at all. Truck ran fine. Had to do one minor repair (I forget what it was) but he has NO mechanic ability and it was something that a guy could do himself. Neighbor has a 5.4 with 150K miles, tow his boat with the expedition 500 miles each way through hilly country roads with 2 little kids and very reliable.

My screw has 201,000 and just brought it in a get my windshield resealed. I had the guy drive it to see if heard the leak and he couldn't believe how straight it drove with those kind of miles. He was probably surprised because he works at a Chevy dealership
