Running a VIN

Can anyone here run my VIN and tell me what packages the truck has. From the outside it looks like it's just a Lariat but I was under it and it has the white shocks with the red boots. Wouldn't that suggest an FX4 as well? It's a 01 Screw so it is possible to have both I believe. There is no FX4 decals though, hence I was wondering if someone would be able to look it up or help me identify it.

In 2001 the FX4 was an option package, not a trim level as with the '04+ trucks. In other words, in 2001 you could buy a Lariat w/the FX4 package, but starting in '04 there were not "Lariat FX4's". It was either/or.

It's also possible the owner either added the rancho branded FX4 shocks or simply took the FX4 stickers off, the stance of those trucks says "4x4" all by itself.

I know. Hence I'm trying to find out a way to know for sure or not.

When I run the vin, mine comes up as showing 154 horsepower. A 2007 5.4 triton has more than that doesn't it?

Lol... in stock trim, one wonders sometimes ....

Advertised is 300 hp at the flywheel. Works out to approx 190-210 hp at the rear wheels. Yes there is that much driveline loss.

I could be wrong but I think the Lariat/FX4 package was only available for the 2002-2003 model years. I had these on my 02 and I thought it was the first year they released them together.

The 2001's had an off road package with heavy duty shocks, but it was not called FX4 as 2002-2003. It really doesn't matter much. The F-150 shocks are bad new, and really suck after 15k miles.

Question Ford Shocks Suck?

Hey all, I'm a brand spankin' newbie to the site, and not to hijack this thread but I LOVE my brand new (10 days old) 2007 SCREWcab. Of course I promoted myself from a used 2000 Ranger to this vehicle so you all can understand my excitment. Well, on to my question. I am already doing some mods (performance and "look") and was wondering should I be concerned about my shocks? Won't be doing too much off roading...just loading, some towing, and daily commute. Should I throw in some shocks w/the upgrades I'm doing? The truck is going into the "shop" on thursday. Thanks for all your information and help. This site ROCKS!!!

Wait until the Spring when Rancho offers the buy 3 get one free promotion again. Lots of people keep the stock shocks for 100k miles. There are just very much better options out there.
