Best Solution for Dogs in the Back Seat of a SCrew
Hi All!
I'll be picking up our 2003 Super Crew the first week in November and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good solution to having dogs (2 Chocolate Labs) in the back seat? I have one of those hammocks in my car. This hooks over the headrests of the driver and passenger seats and over the headrests of the back seat - prevents dogs from hitting the floor.
The Super Crew of course has leather seats, but I don't want the girls scratching the he11 out of the seats either. Is the $200 seat cover set the best solution, or is there something else out there?
Also, if anyone knows of any sites that sell dog accessories for vehicles I'd appreciate that info too.
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I picked up a type of seat cover at Petsmart that looks like a hammock. It fastens over the headrests on the back and front seats and forms a pocket that protects the seat and the floor. We have a yellow lab and a shepherd and it has helped a lot. Here is the link:

Are your dogs able to jump up in the truck/hammock ok? I have a hammock in my car, but am concerned that the dogs won't be able to jump as high as needed to get into the hammock if it's in the back of the Super Crew. I figure they may need to jump up onto the floor of the back, then onto the back seat.
Thanks for the reply,
Ron
We put our dog crate in the back seat and move the front pass. seat back against it to stabilize it. Our sheltie loves to ride in her crate and go camping with us.

i just throw a heavy blanket over the seats and got a good rubber mat that covers the entire floor including hump at O'Reillys Auto for $20. It protects the carpet where I keep their bowl of water.
This rear bench seat cover gets good reviews. I may get it eventually, but the blanket works fine for now.

the seat cover from amazon
I ordered seat belts for them because they like to hang out the windows. They work very well and still allow them the ability to move around, without any danger of them falling out or coming up front to bother us.

lastly, so they don't crap out the door panels while they're hanging out the window, I bought some naugahyde material from a fabric store (or just heavy vinyl) and in a few weeks I'll be custom making some removable covers for the door panels.
I looked online for some, but didn't find any quality ones with good reviews. I plan to mold some dense foam over the arm rest and use velcro, so the door panel will be protected from the bottom of the window down 15".
my new/used 03 screw is pretty mint and I want to keep it that way.
My son uses a window squeegy of all things to clean cat hair off of carpet. He said it works like a charm.
I looked into the hammock style sling you use and I think my boxers would be slung too close for comfort in one of those

I've got an 03 Screw with leather and 2 dog's also (Lab and a Husky/Greyhound mix). Removing the headrests and folding down the back seats are a great option. I then put a blanket over the back seat. Works great. They both lay in back with plenty of room, and don't mess anything up.
I've got floor mats that line the entire floor in the back seat (I've also got kids), and when the kids aren't with me but the dogs are, I just throw another blanket over the floor mats. Work's great, doesn't cost anything.

Leave the dog home. Really man, you want to have some dog slobberin' up your windows and having claws on your leather? Put them in the back of your truck [that's what the back is for] if you got to have them with you.
