Vibration in steering wheel when slowing down to stop

2002 Supercrew 5.4 V8

Im trying here first just because I am not sure where this issue would really fit into.

Just like the title says. When I have been in a lot of stop and go traffic then get out on the highway and get back up to speed; I will get a vibration/shudder in the truck that I can feel in the steering wheel. It will happen only for a few seconds as I am slowing down. Typically in the range from 50-35mph.

It doesnt want to fight me as I steer and it doesnt make me feel like I am going to loose control of the truck. And what is most strange about it is the vibration is sporadic, it doesnt happen every time. Just primarily when I have been in a lot of stop and go traffic then out on the highway and slowing down from those speeds.

I have replaced both front and rear breaks (pads and rotors) thinking I had a bad rotor. Also I had my tires checked and the balance and alignment is good.

Could it be a bad brake calipar? Pitman arm? Shocks?

Thanks all!

If your truck is a 2wd drive I would look at the tie rods or the idle arm.

Being that its a 4x4 I would check the spindle bearing on each side also.

Even though you had the rotors replaced, I'd have them checked again. It sounds like one of them may be a tad warped. A friend of mine had this happen and he went through several until it was corrected.. Doesn't hurt to re check them.
