problems

I have a 2006 supercrew 4x4 and every once in awhile my truck starts to make a noise like the brake pads are stuck on,it is a grinding noise that lasts for a few seconds then goes away for awhile. Also my truck won't start all the time it will turn over but won't start and lastly at a stop light my truck started to run real rough and vibrate and then go away after a couple minutes.I have had my truck in for service but they tell me nothing is wrong becasue the computer shows nothing. Can't anyone fix a problem without a computer these days.I like my ford but am really tired of ford service.

The no-start sounds like injectors to me - which, unfortunately, is VERY common on the 5.4.

You're likely still under warranty, correct? Maybe it's time to give another stealership a chance at earning your business. Like you, I've had lousy experiences with some FoMoCo stealerships but, after a few duds, I now definitely have a 'go-to' stealership that will jump through hoops for me.

Do a search on 'cam phaser' in the ENGINE section.

I second the advice on the injectors. One or more might be sticking open occasionally. Does it smell like fuel when it won't start? Cam phaser could be a problem, but it would probably fail permanently. Otherwise, for the most part, the phaser issue is one of noise that is annoying to most. The grinding noise could be your hubs trying to engage on the 4X system.
